Will be my first one. I was told that the three big climbs are Smitswinkel, Chappies and Suikerbossie. Does anyone know how long they are and at what gradient?

Edinburgh Drive is a bitch! Dont underestimate it. Be careful on Chappies - there is a little Chappies and then main Chappies climb and look out for the false top. There is a corner that you assume is the end but then it goes on again.

I can recommend using Strava. Create an account and use the "Explore" feature. It list s all the user created segments. Then set it to only show cat.4 and maybe cat.3 climbs, and it will show you all the major climbs with distance, elevation, gradient, best times etc.

offtopic.gif , but will you be able to import / use Endomondo files on Strava? I have a year's worth of info on my Endomondo app, does not want to lose it if I start using Strava.

I think so, but you will have to export all your Endomondo rides to .gpx or .tcx files, and then import them using Strava.

From Strava:

Works for multiple .gpx, .tcx, .json, and .fit files 25MB or smaller, 25 files at a time.

Smitswinkel Pass = 1.7 km @ 5.5 %

Chapman's South End = 1.7km @ 4.5 %

Suikerbossie = 1.9 km @ 6.7 %

Thanks. World of good it does me though, as I'm a bit "technology challenged". Would not know where to begin this process. blush.png blush.png

If not crowded, Chapman's is OK. But Edinburgh Drive is one hell of a rude awakening. 'Bossie is a knock-out punch so late in the race if your legs are already jelly.

Under more options in your endomondo workout choose export option.

And if you are jelly, that last stretch from Hout Bay to Oudekraal can seem forever, and even that tiny little rise out of Camps Bay become a 1st-gear mountain. Or maybe it's just me. OK, it's me. Dammit.
