I am also so happy I had a hassle free day. After seeing guys already with problems before we got out the gates of the resort!!! I added 100ml extra sealant in each wheel on friday before I left. When washing my bike yesterday, I see my tires had a lot of new cuts etc. Luckily none went all the way through!! No punctures, no mechanicals, no body failures!!!! And the first race this year I havent fallen....

O Yes. Maxxis Crossmark tires!!

I really loved the race. Didn't have the best one though. Was feeling great and doing really well until punctured repeatedly. Went through quite a few tubes (after the tubeless had given up), so thanks to the guys who lent me tubes. I was desperate and will pay it forward 100 fold!

Tough route. Third time I've done it and it seemed tougher than before with that extra 5km loop and those climbs towards the end just after the aqueduct thing. Still really love it and will be back. And what a job by the organisers, well done.

Where will the photos be? It looked like they were getting some nice creative shots (not just the usual portrait), so quite keen to see them

Just had the report on my whhel, totally effed, some pics for the manne:

I counted over 12 dents in the rim, i am showing only the highlights, the innards of the hub are too scary to show. Check how buckled the wheel is in pic 4!

Jeeez that rim looks hectic, hope my wheels are okay

What a bike and body breaker of note, that terrain is just insane it's either loose rock, flattened veldt grass or soft sand. The monster climb was the part of the race I enjoyed most, the rest of the ride, not so much!

I started to hurt after the first 20 kms.... From that point i knew i was in more *** than what i had expected.... The climb before the monster, i was in serious doubt of making it to the finish.... Seeing the water point on top of Breedts from the monster , i almost started crying.... Passing sparkling waters, i started to wonder if a broken limb could be worse than what i was going through at that point in time.... LOVED that fact that i could see the dam again.... and then finished in 7 hours 30 mins FUC&3D! Where there were no water points, we made water points! dealt with the rocks, climbed the monster, suffered, swore, managed to have a laugh at times BUT we finished the MM.

Well done on not giving up! 7h30 is a bloody long day on the bike, in those conditions!

Also had to fix a few smilies on my back rim yesterday but luckly it's still running true .

How are the hands and wrists doing? That rigid must have hurt more than a little.....
