I really hope they chuck in a t-shirt this year...love mine from previous years. Last year we got a bottle opener as a medal and we put it to good use after the ride...it was dry and dusty. The bokomo breakfast zone is also lekker...smash a couple of ouma's before the races starts.

OK,

Last year was my first and I managed 5hrs54 with cramp and a lot of other pain.

Having said that, I'll be there with my cramp blockers and all the other cr~p. Hopefully I avoid the pain.

EDIT: Entry Complete - See you all there...

Every year I say 'never again' and every year I'm back for more punishment. So,one last one next year and then I'm never doing it again.

Oh, and +1 on the Nissan races getting too big, jcza. If there are options, I'll be going for smaller races next year, like the USN cup races.

You know you prefer the monster to spinning in the dust east of P-town

its a no brainer really...anything under 4:20 is a fantastic time imo. Gords klapped it in 4:05 I think....last year

Monster will definitely be the better of the 2 events.

Just shows that the number of mtb events is diluting the race calendar - there are just too many. Not to mention the many clashes with road events.

I have done several monster half marathons, good technical fun. This year the marathon is on the cards.

Hazeldean just got a bit dull in the middle of the event this year.

What was your crater cruise time? I am worried now about this race I thought maybe 4hrs max...

Not done it but I am an overweight lazy person so dont assume too much from my times!

yeah i just read the tips on the website, tubless, and dual is advised.... hopefully my argus training will ease the punishment of this race by the looks of it atleast 5-6hrs in the saddle?

Done it both times on a HT with tubes (thorn proof ones from Sportsmans) and no punctures (The DNF the first year was due to a puncture with normal tubes). Will be taking my new DS this year to see if there is much of a difference.

Although I think losing some weight and not goofing off on rides would be the real change that is needed!

Done it's lotsa time on geared bike , time for something new .

Power meneer...power!

PS mojo its not the thorns that will puncture you but the snakebites...sidewall protection tyres and tubeless conversion is a non neg at this race for me.
