There is a Murray Williams listed on Linkedin as a Chief Reporter. Limited connections though, so not something to go on.

Hopefully he is just reporting on something else and is really one of the good guys.

Yup, OP is indeed Chief Reporter of Cape Argus.

Here is an opportunity to get the pandemic of Bicycle Thefts / Hijackings highlighted, and this is how some of the Hubbers responds.

Murray is a respected environmental reporter, who also happens to be a very keen outdoorsman. Nice guy; did a job or few with him years back.

He happens to be in quite a senior position at the one of the major English title Cape dailies.

Fantastically mature responses by some people regarding what is in fact a terrifying issue for bike owners at the moment.

We just made a joke about the intro - will be sending him info! perhaps we should get a representiative that has more first hand knowledge of incidents? I have only read about it here but no first hand experience (fortuntely)

I know Murray well ... he is a respected journo and has an interest in outdoor sports (he has also covered the Epic a few times for Argus -- and other events such as Wines 2 Whales).

I know how he was alerted to the story and you can trust him ... give him a call and it will probably help all cyclists and help stop the "crime wave".

Oh, and I can confirm that is his cell number ....
