Came down hard of the bike today. About 500m from home on a nice downhill section of the road. A bug flew into my mouth as I tried to get this thing out of my mouth, I lost concentration. The front wheel caught the pavement... And down I went on a nice rocky patch.

Big bang against the head, some eina bruises down the leg, bib ruined, scratches on the bike frame.

But alive to fight another day, thanks to my helmet.

+1 on the helmet...

Just got a new one from Specialized under their crash replacement policy. 30% of the price...thanks to Summit cycles for their help..

It is never good to hear about someone's misfortune. I hope you a speedy recovery. I know your misery a bug (Ninja Turtle) turned in front of me at a robot. I was doing about 40km/h and was going straight through the intersection. Well, in an effort to avoid the accident I turned, the front tire burped and that was the end for me. Needless to say I fell my ass off.

Like I said, hope you heal up well.

As mrbaker says, specialized, give 30% back on crashed helmets,I believe so does bell(if it's not bell) there is a second manufacture that does crash replacements. It is said that if you have a tumble that Dents your helmet or cracks it,the integrity of the "shell" is lost even if you don't think it needs replacement you must. Personally I listen to that so the next time you fall you not thinking "that's strange my helmet did not help, i wonder why??. Also as they say in the states "2$ helmet for a 2$ brain"

I just rang my bell yesterday with a stupid get off, went over the bars whilst not watching what iw as doing and banged my head on the ground, and I'm feeling a bit sore in the neck today. Helmet okay, but I am not riidng today even though I planned to.

It reminded me (and so did your post) about a bad incident a I had couple of years ago with concussion after a big get off. Wont bore you with the details but it eventually involved ICU, a ventialtor and a stay in hospital, so watch yourself. If you broke a helmet than there was some force involved, some of which ended up rattling your brain a bit.

So I always take it upon myslef to warn people cause you dont what to end up like I did.

Must have been quite a bang, hence yer IQ ;) ;) ;)

Glad you OK, I find a hard fall often sets me back in the technical dept., takes a while to trust one's skills fully again.
