So when does cycling become an obsession.......?

Obsession - I love to. It brings me joy.

Compulsion - I must. I have to.

Addiction - I cannot do without at all costs.

You need to keep a healthy balance of cycling and the rest of life i.e family etc.

This fred is a pretty good read.

Yet an important one.

I've been told "If this cycling thing is coming between us, then we have a problem".

I love cycling. I love to test the mental and physical boundaries.

I love my family as well.

What is acceptable cycling behaviour?

E.g. I think the following is ok (your thoughts please):

5 days Commute to work / back - only slightly longer than the car

(Waking up early is irrelavant)

1 workday a week out late cycling

1 morning per weekend cycling

In return:

2 days per workday week baby-sitting. Love it

Sunday mornings baby-sitting. Love it

The rest family = time

8 bikes hanging in the garage.

Should I be worried?

Worried??? Nah! You've got 8 bikes! Tell the misses you're only just getting started!!

More worrying is Christmas Eve hubbing actually.....

When I bought a new farm a few months ago , one of the major decisive points in choosing the farm , were the mountains on the farm and how much climbing and downhills could be done on it . ( I kid you not ) Yes , yes I know , I'm also a little worried about it myself . But just a little !

Question is: are you a selfish obsessive?

Can we all come and ride on the farm?devil.gif whistling.gif

It's not about the number of bikes. Collecting stamps does not mean you like writing letters it means you like stamps. Obsessed about cycling is indicated by the amount of riding you do and the types of riding. Not the number of bikes.

My wife tells me I crossed the line last year when I did 100km road ride in the morning, two hours of track at Hector Norris park at midday and managed to squeeze in a night MTB ride at Modderfontein in the evening. I just called It a day well spent.

I agree with her! But...........it is a lot better than spending your day in the bar.
