i went thru 3 cannondales (road pre CF) the 1st two were cracked frames after 2 years. my biggest issue first up was my lbs - after a week the bike still had not been collected for assesment by CCS (the agents at the time) so i took it there myself. at first they were a bit reluctant to deal directly with me but i got my way. 2 years later same story, but i got an upgrade, within 2 years frame cracked, replaced again another upgrade, within a year the paint on the 3rd frame started bubbling near the bottle cages. CCS disputed my claim for a new frame told me to bring it back when its cracked. gave them the middle finger and sold the bike for 2k to a friend. i was advised later i should have taken it up with Cannondale in the USA. the yanks are big into customer service.

forgot to add - the last frame is still going strong 10 years later but looking a bit patchy.

10 years is a good working life for a frame.

I do think the author must change the thread title.

And his User name too wink.png

As a representative of "Think Bike ©", (the South African NPC) Safety & awareness campaign I'd just like to present a disclaimer that the campaign has had no dealings with Cannondale (or their affiliates) and is in no way related to the author of this thread thumbup1.gif

Yeah.

The author has not returned to his/her thread since the opening post, as far as I can see.

Is it just me who noticed that alot of people who responded to this thread had admitted that they had cracked cannondale frames replaced under warranty. So it seems that they do in fact crack relatively frequently.

With that in mind, is that not in itself confirmation that this brand fails on a relatively regular basis? Are there other brands that crack frequently as this?

My Look kg486 developed a small crack by the BB last year. (I bought it in 2005) I've since had it repaired and its right as rain once again.

And for the record, I think (thought) Cannondale is a stunning brand.

I think in general any bike will eventually crack somewhere.

I remember the days when I bought a Trek 5500. Cracked 4 of them. All replaced under warranty but still.

Frames crack.

All brands.

Frame fatigue it's called, mostly.

The OP should change the title as it reflects unfairly on a brand that's been at the top, used by the PROs, in multiple codes of cycling.

Yes I will confess I had 'dale cracked frame once - Mtb Al chain stay after 4+ years of use, was replaced with a new one, no problems. That was back in '96, Since then I haven't had any problems at all.
