Endomondo on a Blackberry (I use it on the iPhone, it works perfectly) Your wife can track you from the Endomondo site. I use it to check my girlfriend is ok when she rides alone. You can track with the free versions.

Don't lie. You track her to make sure she doesn't stop at the ex-boyfriend's house...

Mapmyride is an app that you can load on your smart phone, whether you use iPhone, BB or Android.

http://www.mapmyfitness.com/imapmy/

They have a premium option that will allow someone like wifey to track your movements on the internet, so this requires your data connection to be active while riding.

It is one of the better training tracking apps out there, but not as good as Strava for sure. I have not been able to find any live tracking feature setting on Strava though.

I use "real time gps tracker" on my android.

It gives you an url that you can email and they can just go there and follow you as you go around.

I gave the link to my parents in namibia when i did the burger in december and they were glued infront of the pc all the way and phoned me when i got to the end. Works well for the fiance to know when i am close to the finish.

I didnt know you can do it with endomondo, will give it a try.

Does anyone know of any tracking Device or program I can put on my bike or phone that wifey can track me while I'm out training all on my own. The reason I ask is, if something happened, and I'm laying next to the road, they can just go on the net and pin-point and know exactly where I am. Because of all the bike-jackings and cyclist being hit by cars, the wife doesn't like me training for 5+ hours all alone, without knowing exactly where I am.

I (our whole family) use Google Latitude (www.google.com/latitude) for this kind of thing. It is not exact (depends whether GPS/mapping is running, but it gives a fair enough idea. It works across networks, devices (Android/BB/Apple - I think), continents.

EDIT: It runs all the time in Google Maps (Latitude is a layer), so not only for training

i say first track down some riding partners...... if you get hit by a car or have a proper fall whats the chances of your I phone or blackberry "staying alive"

if you get jacked they def. taking it with them. numbers always a winner in cycling

I live in Komatipoort, don't know if you know where it is, but i'm the only one here riding that far. We are not even 15 cyclist here in town, and the furthest that they will ride is Maybe 100km. And that only happens once in a while, when its not to hot, or not raining. And the average speed that they are riding is about 13-16km/ph. thumbdown.gif

Coincidentally I foud this on Alibaba last night (my favourite Chinese "eBay").

http://www.alibaba.c...racker_for.html

Basically, A very small, light weight GPS in which you put a sim card. Whoever wants your location then just calls the number of the SIM inside the GPS, and the GPS sends an SMS back to the caller with your GPS coordinates, current speed and what nots. If the phone is a relatively new phone, you can click the link in the SMS and see where the person is on a map.

Pretty nifty I think.

And you can track it live on www.gps-trace.com I have one of them and it works well, still working out the average monthly costs as I've only been using it for a few weeks but it averages around 1MB per day

what phone do you have? Android/BB/Apple/Nokia?

Most of these other devices will require either a separate SIM card, or a cellphone to which these can connect via bluetooth etc

Google Maps with Latitude might be the cheapest, easiest to set up. Other people (those you allowed) can track you via their cell phones, a pc etc

I have a bb. And downloaded a program called whereareyougps.com. Its not to bad, it pin-points your locations via ur bb. But i still think Iphone's application is better.

I will upgrade my contract phone in the next month or 2, and go over to iphone.thumbup1.gif
