Charlie600 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Most definitely, if I had the choice i WOULD NOT have taken the Elixer 9's that came with my Giant Anthem - Shimano and especially XT seems to work much better and squeal much less!

Bat1 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I've upgraded from SLX to Elixir 9rs on my Giant XTC. Awesome brakes. Don't know the Elixir 7 though, but XT's are also awesome brakes. I would pay R800 more.

Ryanpmb Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I moved from Elixir 9 to 2013 SLX and you can't even compare the Avids to the Shimanos. Shimano is way better. Will never run Avid's again.
Meezo Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 once you've made your mind, the slx brakes are as good slightly cheaper too..... But i'm not sure i think easybike still has both on sale, and great service from them! arendoog and rouxtjie 2
