The FR202 builds above :

1. Full SLX 2x10, Fox F32 29 Fork, Fulcrum Red Metal SL wheelset, Ritchey seatpost and stem, bontrager Handlebar = R16000(rounded, was just under)

2. Full XT 2x10, SID 2013 w/r, XT Wheelset, Ritchey handlebar stem and seatpost = R21000(rounded)

Like rouxtjie states if you want to get XX or XTR it will bump the price up.... both owners extremely happy with their builds

Hi Meezo. Where do you buy that FR202 frame. I know there were some more pages on this thread, but it is missing.

@AfdElite

Flyxii quality is great, both my dad and I have complete (frame, fork, stem, seat post, handlebar, headset, bottle cage, saddle) bikes from them. Done 2000+ kms with quality issues.

Ordered through them via ebay. They call themselves a_baygoods. Communication was pretty good, usually responded within 24hrs

Less than than that

Lets look at how

Frame: 7000 for booth incl post and bars and headset

Fork: Reba special at cwc: 3500

Groupset: XT special at cwc: 6750

Wheels(4000) + tyres(1000): 5000 http://www.thehubsa....new-free-tyres/

Odds and ends(pedals, grips, cables): 1000

Grand total: 23350...lets round it up to 24000 just to build in a little fat for something here and there

Sure you can shoot the lights out with XTR groupo or fancier wheels or components. But I reckon this is the best price point vs value vs weight choice

Pricing is variable and if you build your own (and have all the special tools you need) then Rouxtjie is the ball park using a mish mash of bits.

However, there are a few compromises going on in this example which are often overlooked;

The CWC special on fork - it's a straight steerer with QR so you immediately lose the benefit of 2 important developments regarding stiffness for a 29er, namely the tapered steerer and the thru axle maxle.

Wheels; cheaper usually means a hub set you may not choose but do because they are on sale.

Groupsets: often no choice on FD type (most ship with XT FD M781) so may not fit your frame and cassette often not the 11-36 you would like. Also, the specials come and go, right now I can't find the R6,750 on CWC but there are others listed like SLX. Often the brake rotors come in one size only and there is an upgrade needed.

Hidden costs often overlooked, sealant as an example. And your time sourcing everything.

Saddle, pedals, grips etc for a grand? Depends what you like sitting on, gripping and pedaling!

But overall, we have access to decent bikes at a fraction of retail channel prices.

What's the quality of the flyxii stuff like? Anyone got one? Reliable?

flyxii is well known in the industry for selling at a lower price than anyone else.

Based mainly on the suspicion that they sell the units that don't pass QC at 2 of the major suppliers. This has long been rumoured on all the forums that have been running for the past few years.

I have personally never dealt with them as the major guys do have great quality.

agree, I just used an example, not the one I am going for....you can make it a cheap build or a shoot the lights out build. Depends on your wallet and what you want.

Also lots of the things mentioned people might already have, fork and wheels as an example that you can just re-use or even a groupo.

PS it quite a fun exercise ito sourcing parts, I dont see it as a schlep....you can get exactly what you want if you prepared to wait here and there. You can also wait for specials to come and go, good example is the wheels cwc is now running. You can get some good deals there without compromising

We'll have to add and build on it.

I'll start.

Flyxii responded on a general weight limit on their frames and wheels

100kgs.

Still awaiting on dengfu and hongfu

hongfu has told me that their wheels are more than strong enough for 100kg riders, Don't know about the frames.

The 56mm from hongfu weighs 420g for tubular and 560g for clincher. Don't know weights of the 40 and 86mm rims. Definately not going to be a very light wheelset but with a 150kg weight limit it will be strong.

50mm clincher wheels come out about 250g heavier than 25mm Easton EA90 aluminum wheels. Deepish section is not about weight saving. Power transfer is phenomenal.

I know I am super late on this thread - but what would be the approximate all in price to bring a dual sus carbon 29er frame all the way china town?
