Any tips on where I can find short (50mm-ish) 35mm diameter stems locally?

Hmmm... local 35mm clamp availability isn't as advanced as online, afaik. I think Kore have one, and I know DaBomb has one that can change between 35 & 31.8 with a provided shim. Otherwise - go to bike-discount.de or bike-components.de or CRC and browse...

The Kore Repute M35 is the one you're looking for. CRC is outta stock, and it's the cheapest by quite some margin.

We have two options as far as Dabomb 35mm diameter stems go.

The King, this is the one with the shim as you mentioned. 50mm long.

The F35, 45mm long stem.

Give me a shout if you are interested in any of them.

These Da Bombs stems look like a good option. Sending you a pm for pricing.

I recently recovered from a cervical disc replacement (C6-C7) and I guess a full face helmet + a neck brace would be ideal (wise) when blasting down a mountain.... even when doing enduro.

Where do you guys buy FF helmets? I saw some Leatt braces from time to time up for grabs on "Mountain bikers do it downhill", should I rather buy a new one?

buy a used one or at least test one out before you buy. Neck braces aren't for everyone and I found it excessively restrictive when it came to head movement with one on.

Full faces - give the guys at The Trailhead a shout. They'll sort you out.
