On that note - anyone in Joeys keen to do a bulk order of Coconut Oil from Crede Oils. Great tasting and if you order 25L you get it for R80 per litre (half the price of Dischem). Postage would be R86.

I am keen to order and we can split 2 or 3 ways. Other price is R99 per Litre if order 12L.

I'll take a litre if that will make any difference? Still not completely tuned to the taste of CO. Seems from you guys that one gets used to it tho?

Korrek, cold pressed virgin - will confirm prior to ordering though. Bought a 500ml bottle from Roots and Shoots just to sample it and it's very similar to the Lifestyle brand that Dischem sells, slightly better in my view.

I will do a tally of who wants what and place an order - chatted to the sales person at Crede who advised that it has a shelf life of 3 yrs. I go through 1L a month so planning on stocking up for the next year and saving myself R960. Pantry is going to be full!

I am not sure it is a taste that you "can get used to" I think it is one of those you either like or you don't. Luckily for me I am absolutely mad about the taste of coconut and the organic virgin from crede is so tasty I can drink it neat!

Only had Dischem and Crede Oils so far.

The Crede Oils one taste is more subtle, to the point that I eat it by the spoonful now.

I found out about a new use for coconut oil: Oil pulling. Swish coconut oil through your mouth for a good 10-20 minutes. ... I wasn't a fan of CO few months back (thought it ruined my coffee and food), but my taste buds have taken to it! To the point of using "oil pulling" as an excuse for gulping huge chunks of @!$* expensive R162/kg CO at a time (after swishing through my mouth).

You shouldn't swallow the oil that you have pulled as it is probably full of bacteria and toxins.

'The basic purpose is to “pull” bad bacteria from the mouth and spit it out in the oil when you’re finished (never swallow after oil pulling!). It’s the physical property of the oil that attracts all the “gunk” in your mouth, similar to the way the physical property of cohesion allows water to be so effective in the handwashing process.'

Read that on many sites during research, too.

Not worried about bacteria and toxins. My stomach will sort them out ;)

I have fillings, but if they are leaching during oil pulling then they are probably also leaching throughout the day. Can't change that.

Besides, CO is white gold! Can't bring myself to spit it out LOL

Guys, how do you rate Quinn's coconut oil? http://quinnspurecoconutoil.co.za/index.php

I have been using this for a couple of months and enjoy, but I'm scared at what is being said on the site...

"Refined coconut oil can be used to replaced vegetable oil for cooking and baking. RBD stand for refined, bleached and deodorized. In RBD oil all the phytonutrients have been removed so it is tasteless and odourless. Coconut oil is the most stable oil and heat does not effect it."

According to what I read, Quinns is a RBD oil. Any input?

So have been sitting on the verge reading for a while and here is my 2c worth.

Cut out all obvious carbs and fizzy drinks (beer, red wine and whisky not included) in December last year. Still eat quite a lot of butternut and sweet potato. I cannot measure what I eat or look at pee sticks every day, but I am relatively good about no carbs.

Lost 16kg so far, only ride on water. Recently did Susi and Chuma challenge in Zambia, 5 days of hard riding on only water and plenty of gin at night.

I miss savoury snacks, bad. Addicted to Carbonossi.

So far so good.

Good to hear ! Droëwors, biltong, salami all make good savoury snacks so those are my go-to options if I feel peckish !

I used Crede's deflavoured oil for a long time until they developed issues with the consistency and smell of that range, then switched to their regular CO and I will never go back to anything else. The regular oil just "feels" more nutritious, it may be my imagination playing a role though, but I would avoid RBD if I was you.

Since cutting out milk from my diet in the last 3 days I've been feeling perfect and I've still carried on with all other dairy products. Seems strange but glad I know what the cause was.

If any of you remembered, I've been complaining about the lack of umph in the legs since coming off strict LCHF despite getting in 90g carbs per day (15%.) Anyway, since Monday I've upped the carbs to about 120-130g per day and I'm finally getting my zing back. So my current macro ratio is 15/20/65 P/C/F and my energy seems to be stable.

In terms of fruit, I'm only eating two a day. One apple at breakfast and one banana post exercise, the rest is veggies and nuts throughout the day.

WHAT !! ?

Isn't ketones supposed to be the ultimate fuel ? Ketogenic supposed to be the ultimate metabolic state ?

Welcome back from the walking dead !

Ps. Another tip, dump the nuts and replace with more sugar or carbs. You want as little as possible PUFA's in your diet. And if you really want to get to the next level, PM me and I'll give you some reading that will blow your mind !

(oh, and the other LC sect disciples, don't bother trying to rip my head off ( I'll check in again next week to see how much are still living), one day you will thank me and say I was right all along. )

Topwine, please stop trolling on this thread. I'm sure you mean well and you're frustrated the LCHF crowd can't see the light as you seemingly do, but you're being a tjop about it. Especially when you relish your schadenfreude about how everyone on LCHF will perish prematurely. GTFO.

LCHF is a convenient metabolic state for many. Eating less frequently and having sustained energy and concentration levels changed my life for the better.

The definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over expecting a different result each time.

Big up to the folks who got sick following the heart-healthy carb dogma and tried LCHF to see if it makes a difference.

If going LCHF doesn't work for a few individuals (whether due to genetics or anaerobic activities), then big up to them if they change their diet until it works for them.
