Santa cruz highball, aluminium frame.

Ok, based on comments I have done some surfing.

Bfe .... Nice, but can also then consider a steel.456evo or 456 carbon frames.

I like the idea of a mid travel 120mm 29er HT frame which can also run as a SS, this is where the alu higballl is currently scoring well.

Just got the old inbred 29er up and running again today after being solely on the Shova for the least month and a bit, so lets see what it feels like again to be rolling on wagon wheels.

That higballl though just looked exceptionally good....even in boring white.

Santa Cruz’s alloy 29er is an unassuming ride at first, but a proper grower the harder you ride it.At nearly 2kg it’s no lightweight (the carbon version is 800g less, but £1100 more) but the stout tubeset can take 80-120mm tapered forks. It’s versatile: you can run fixed or adjustable singlespeed dropouts, there’s room for 2.4in tyres, the 30.9mm seat tube is dropper-ready, the conventional cups can hold a BB-mounted chain device and it’s available in white or blue. But it’s the riding that makes the Highball stand out, particularly if you plug in a 120mm fork and inline post. While it feels good but not amazing cruising, it’s in its element when you get excited. The Highball’s ability to hold a line and maintain traction on climbs or through corners is outstanding, even if you’re running semi-slicks in slimy conditions. It’s among the most assured and confidence-inspiring hardtails we’ve ridden. Complete builds are also available from £1599, which offset the otherwise high-looking frame price.

And then this again ..... (Can get a damaged frame with a tiny tiny chip at the lower end of the headtube, just about where the headset race would be .... for R4500 landed and ex tax/duties)

The Lurcher looks a good frame, have been looking at it myself, especially with the horizontal dropouts option that can convert it into a SS, and agree that chip is a non-factor

I've got a white highball frame and most probably the longest taking build in the history of builds (luckily I only have wheels and a couple of loose bits left). I've also done some research around the frame, and from what I've read it's an amazing frame, especially regarding climbing and it's "flickability". The plus points like you have mentioned is exactly why I decided to go with it. SC also updated their 26' do-it-all hardtail, Chameleon, with the same tube forms as the highball, so it will be able to take a beating. I can't wait to get my build done!!!

21.5" frame landed and ex duties will come to about R2900.00 mark (with the std dropouts, SS will be an extra cost) and I can set you up for about the R2650.00 mark ex duties and exchange rate dependent.
