DIPSLICK Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Are thinking of ditching it? Truth be told, after the uikak session we had from oom at j2c I seriously considered it. I mean I was in the medic tent and he wasn't, but then also my saddle didn't agree with me. Will still use it even if it is just for the nice smellCAN BE ARGUED BOTH WAYS,, I USED IT I ALSO WASNT IN THE TENT, THAT BEING SAID IF I DIDNT I WASNT GOING TO BE LOOKING STRONG LIKE OOM, BUT THEN AGAIN HE IS HARD ASSED rouxtjie 1
Camaron Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I would never use cream but I thought I'd try it one afternoon on a training ride after a long time off my bike.It has helped me a lot and I find my skins recovery is much better than without.
rouxtjie Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 (edited) CAN BE ARGUED BOTH WAYS,, I USED IT I ALSO WASNT IN THE TENT, THAT BEING SAID IF I DIDNT I WASNT GOING TO BE LOOKING STRONG LIKE OOM, BUT THEN AGAIN HE IS HARD ASSEDyea exactly, that is why I came to the conclusion that your saddle and chamois play a far more important role ito keeping them at bay. Agree on oom being hard assed, he likes pain Edited May 27, 2013 by rouxtjie DIPSLICK 1

Plentipotential Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 A little off topic but relevant. I suffered with a saddle sore, just one spot. Different saddles, various creams, no relief. Had to replace my crank set and bought longer cranks, 175mm up from 170's. Same bike, same shorts, same seat, end of saddle sore! Go figure. I do use cream for rides longer than 11/2 hours, makes a difference. I just buy Mil Kreem from Dischem, cheap enough and works well.
Redlight Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Yes its nice, but after a year you can clearly see that it eats away at the lycra :-(

I am also battling with one spot only but when it started i "sat all over" the saddle and that caused my butt to get stuffed properly !!!

I reckon its the one. PS on a seriaas note, the medics at joberg2c gave me a great tip ito keeping saddlesores away at stage races. The word is friar's balsam(spelling?)....dries and disinfects in one go. DIPSLICK and ChUkKy 2

DJR Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I use Assos bum cream only if I get it for free. Otherwise I use Dischem milk cream because it is cheap (my Scottish genes) and work just as well. I even bum it (pun intended) from my mate that bought a big tub that's going to last him for years. I use it for long rides only (4 hrs +) and when doing consecutive long rides (like stage races). I've never had any issues with saddle sores, but then I ride well used and trusty saddles and keep my ass clean as a whistle (fog horn?)!
