This difference is that Wiggins's speciality on the track was in the pursuit, which makes him a decent TT rider. He wasn't a sprinter.

One thing people simply don't get, and even coaches....

Each person has a genetic make-up that makes for their talent.

I see how people misunderstand ability or underestimate others, ...

 

Excuse me, but wasn'd Bradley wiggins a track cyclist of note before he "changed" into a GC contender? Took him 2 years, but he did it.

Wiggo was a useless climber when he first started in the Grand Tours. Sprinting is not a requirement to be a GC contender. Climbing and TT'ing are the requirements.
