I rode the new IMSA route while down in P.E. over the holidays. Will surely be doing some hill training in the months to come...Now just to find some decent ones in Bloem, unfortunately nothing really compares to what we will be facing on a loop.

Don't want to discourage anyone, I'm not much of a climber. Only advise I have is to take it much slower than normal on the first bike lap.

Also done the route now - definately kicks up quite a bit on the lake farm road and maitlands to a lessor degree - but for context a 90km lap in PE still easier than the EL 70.3 bike leg....

Easterly wind on the coastal section towards to university is a killer though...

Happy new year gang, know I'm six days late. But managed to lock myself out over the holidays and could only reset my password this am.!!!!

Here's to a good IMSA2014

12 weeks!!!

Wow, the time as flown by. My main focus for now is the 70.3, then one week rest and then start all over again.

Yip. Same here. Last weekend of longer distance for me.....then 2 weeks of short faster distance.

Got my training back on track this weekend.

Ran 33km and biked 130 TT

That's nearly as much as my 2 week total mileage high for 2013

This IM training is hard to find time for....

I had a fantastic slump over December. Did basically nothing especially the running! Started again last week and aim is to miss as few as possible sessions. Will start with the super long sessions next week.

So for those who have done both the EL 70.3 bike course and the PE new course, how does the two compare?

Pe is definitely an "easier" 90km loop BUT you have to do 2 x loops in the full. I was thinking about it the other day and II think yo can double your half time to get an idea of what you would be capable of in the full

There is an equation somewhere out there, I think that its 2.05 times your 70.3 time for the respective courses

Taking the new course into account?
