Hi SurferChild,

 

Yip, the store is still happening.. Unfortunately there were delays because of the lease but shop fitting is in full force and the opening orders are being placed. (Building etc. had to be done from scratch as the shop had never been occupied before)

They are hoping to have the opening early November if all goes according to plan

 

From what I have seen, it's going to look awesome and totally worth the wait.

So after the long long wait, Ridgeway Cycles opened this past weekend and the shop looks amazing!

It's next to Honda Stonerige / Ridgeway Sports Bar in Greenstone, go check it out.

 

Ps. i'll try find out if they have any opening specials

I was starting to loose all hope in this shop, but glad it opened up. Would have liked to be informed of the opening weekend, but rather late than never

I went in today and was a bit disappointed. Shop looks good but has little stock. Mainly 29er and some kids bikes. Titan, GT, Cube, Merida. Very little in terms of parts and accessories. No sign of any specials. Maybe a rushed opening to catch late Christmas shoppers?

 

I had to go to Sportsman's Warehouse round the corner to get the bits I wanted. Hopefully the shop gets more stock and variety soon. Would be great to have a good LBS in the area, with good bike servicing.

 

The big trailer parked outside the shop still says "opening soon", so I reckon many will have driven past without knowing the shop is open.

They haven't had their opening 'launch' yet.

They are open for trading in the meantime while the finalise things.

They are also waiting for more stock to arrive (Getting orders in from suppliers seems to be a nightmare this time of year)

The shop is open for basic trading but they are still waiting for some orders to arrive (Which has been a nightmare getting in, maybe the time of year had a role to play in this)

 

They still have more shoes, helmets, accessories and nutrition coming in soon. (Hopefully this week I am told)

I am also told they have a mechanic starting mid December and the workshop will be fully operational.

 

There hasn't been an official launch yet, but as you can imagine you need to open doors as soon as you can.

 

Make a turn past again sometime, i'm sure there will be loads more to see.

In reply to the very cranky guy named cranky, they did mention that the official launch party is only in a few weeks and not all their stock had arrived (including some high end Italian road bikes). I'm more roadie than MTB-er, so asked such questions obviously.

 

That said, I think this will be the "coolest" LBS in the East Rand. I'm looking forward to big things from these guys

You"re the marketing guy who told us to check out the "amazing" store, Wez-O! I didn't see any post about a launch party later on.

 

I just gave an honest impression of what was there today. I too hope it will be a huge success. It worried me to see the shop so quiet (hence my suggestion to move the "opening soon" sign away). And I wasn't happy to be forced to spend my money around the corner, so yeah, I was a bit cranky.

 

Will certainly check it out in Jan, Gooner101, when my bike will need a service.

Popped in today. Some pretty bike porn (cube bikes), friendly staff - apparently they were going to have a launch party later that day.

I think their location is a bit unfortunate, being behind the centre but good luck to them.
