Yup, one bag only! The bag they give you should be big enough. Pack wisely...

Not going to use the one they give us... not keen to check name tags until I find my bag.

This may seem like a stupid question, but if I've arranged for a vehicle transfer from Lourensford to Oak Valley on day 1 and then to Hermanus on day 3 with the Rotarians, can I safely assume I can put extra stuff in my car, if not all my stuff?

I always carry a spare hanger, but a rear derailleur! No ways man. What group you starting in Talus? We in B. Doing the adventure. Chilled out.

Exactly the same B adventure. Yeah overkill. Must find a way to meet and greet. Will pm you my race no. later.

Did exactly that last year. Just check when they plan on driving the cars - last year there were riots on the roads and they had to change plans slightly.

How safe is the bike park? Do you guys think its "safe" to leave your cycling computer on the bike?

Does the showers have enough hot water ?

Rather take the computer - lots of people coming and going. Never heard anyone complain about water - very well organized.

Just remember some cars are parked quite a distance from the end (we were 3k away). Only important if you want to get shower gear from the car and shower at the end.

Good advice. Thanks. Essentials on truck. Extras in car.

Packing simple is the best advice anyone ever gave me. Not because of the weight or bulk issue, simply that living out of 1 bag or box for 3 days can become chaotic. You won't believe how difficult it is to find that 1 little black thingamagig between all the other thingamabobs in your bag after dark, standing on your knees in a little tent with a headlight, without your reading glasses that you accidentally stepped on in that same little tent. And I'm an old hand at extreme camping...... keep it as SIMPLE as you possibly can, you won't regret it.

Keep each days gear and stuff together in a plastic bag. Stuff dirty wet gear in a plastic bag and tie it shut, otherwise, before you know it, everything will be equally dirty and smelly. Take a decent pillow and sleeping bag, if you sleep well, you'll feel well. Take comfy off the bike clothes. Don't overdo taking bike spares, just take difficult to find bits specific to tour bike. You can find almost anything from the race mechanics / bike shops that will be there. Work out your logistical plan and stick to it. When you finish, first take care of yourself, eat, drink, shower, relax a little, then take care of your bike, wash, lube & repair if needed. Then get ready for the next day, mix energy drink, pack Camelbak. By then it'll be time for dinner and an early bedtime. Keep it simple and organized and you won't stress and have time to enjoy the race village and the experience

(I'm really going to miss not riding it this year, but I've got other fish to fry, so I'm not complaining)

I was hoping that there would be another registration before the race. Have to drive to lourensford on the thurs eve for the registration and back out the next morning for the start.

As far as I know there is registration on the day as well.

Some good advice there. Done Sani twice before, so I have a good sense of the packing requirements and daily routine. But now that I'm operating with my car nearby, I was wondering if there were any benefits or tips I could utilise.
