4hrs29 is bloody blistering  - I hope you go to the "prizegiving" and get to down a beer and do a dance while you're doing it as punishment for riding such an insanely fast time in the laid back Adventure. ;) Good luck for tomorrow. :)

No prize giving for me. I am at home lying on my own bed. With my biggest fan.

how did you bike hold up in the mud? Brake pads, chain suck, Drivetrain? I saw on some photos posted on twitter that guys were washing their bikes off at some WP.

As rainy as it was it wasn't extremely muddy. The last 1km is probably the muddiest... Apart from a wash and lube the bike is ready to race. Another day in similar conditions will probably call for new pads.

We started in B. I had 2 big dismounts. Doubtfull starter for tmrw. It may not have been muddy up front but we had it VERY muddy! Last riders that was allowed to finish came in at 9h 30m. Lots and lots of mech. The tech zones are overflowing. They have tractors pulling the cars out of the parking area. Only 4x4 getting out. Went to dinner and briefing in rolled up denims and barefoot. Mud ankle deep. They have cut out all the A-frames (fencecrossings) for tmrw due to concern for rider safety. We have been promoted to A group despite sitting for 7 mins after my second crash - it shows many mech is A group. Portage was really slippery - glad I used SPD hiking shoes today. One group we know that started in A (many Epics done) used 4 quiclinks and finished half the stage S/S due to broken chains. And tmrw will haveno rain but even more mud - ouch! Fitting mudguards tonight.

Wow, sounds like lots of fun out baking mud cakes while I was strapped to my office chair staring at a pc screen. The wind should hopefully dry up some of the mud for tomorrow and Sunday.

Had a bad ride yesterday - we started in H as we are not racers. The mud was treacherous, descents had to be approached with care - the pass was slippery and pushing or carrying your bike for 1.2km was exhausting. By the time we reached the good single track, we were too tired to enjoy it! After two falls and the hammering our bikes took from the mud we decided to withdraw. Will try again next year if it doesn't rain!!
