I would like to ride a bike fitted with XX1! Where can I test ride one or if anyone is willing to go for a ride and swop bikes, let me know! You will be riding a Scott Spark 910 2013 model!

Can help you end of July with a VIPA running XX1.

With tears in my eyes - for your own sake and your riding -go only Shimano. Unless you happy to sit fiddling and replacing parts every few months.

Unless - you a pro with backup mechanic , I sure you be fine.

Time for a new mechanic. Have ridden both on various bikes over several years and SRAM ALWAYS requires the least TLC. Shifting is crisp, fast and on the money. My SL-R's XO drivetrain needed it's first gear tweak two weeks ago - just over 12 months since it's first ride.

Morning all. Thanks for all the comments. Ive had the Scott Scale Pro 2012 with Sram 2x10 drive and found nothing wrong with it! Shifting was good and all and all very happy. Im planning on building a HT Chinese XX1 Racing Mother F'er()! Ha ha. Its gonna be a custom build and her name is gonna be BILO ( Bike Id Like to Own)! Also only when my ship comes in! Gonna keep my 910 as is and for all you commented, im just scared that you dont wanne give her back. Soft, caring and loving she is...... I also heard that Sram is bringing out a cheaper version of XX1?

Been on it for bout 3 weeks now. It is faaantastic! Only thing is the gripshift which k@kked on the 3rd ride. Apperently its a problem, check out mtbr. Started with 34 blade, gone to 32, I'm a big guy not built for climbs. Its really great . Put it on a tallboy & it rocks. Thinking of getting 28 blade for masters world champs in august.

Tried XX1, its awesome. Huge prices though, check out the current XX1 specials on BuyCycle.......

Not really a special though

Cassette R4149

Crank BB30 R3539

Derailleur R3379

Gripshifter R1769

Total R12836

Now hotspotcycles quoted on one of there other ads that a BB30 groupset would be R12900

For R64 ill rather buy from a shop where I can walk in and talk to them if something is wrong.

I'v got bikes with Sram X0 and Shimano XT, with Type 2 and shadow plus clutch deraillers.... cant speak for XX1, but my thoughts as follows:-

Sram -- Does seem to do well in muddy conditions... But shifting is very tactile and mechanical... and the trigger down shift is very sensitive ie. if you going along a rough section you are probably going to down shift twice when wanting to drop a gear as your finger tap taps the release.. also, i find myself adjusting the barrel screw on the shifter during most rides to get shifting spot on...

Shimano XT -- Shifting is more refined and 2 to 1 cable pull stops you over shifting at the back... once setup i never feel the need to fiddle while riding.. also 2 way release triggers are nice... and you dont get the probllem of two down shift on the bumpy sruff...

Nothing wrong with X0, but part of my thoughts are on shifting when im riding it.... When im riding my XT i seem to think less about the shifting and drivetrain?

got xx1 for a while now ,not one problem so far, will never go back.

just make sure about main blade size, started with the 38t ,then got the 36t,bought the 32t on J2C,getting now the 34t,think that is the allrounder for me.

A 38? Dude, you must put out some serious watts!

Switched from XT to XO two years ago and love it - a year ago added the grip shift. What I LOVE about the gripshift is when you are a bit hammered and get to a climb not having changed up enough gears you just grab a handful of the right gripshift and you jump 5 gears even under load.

Been using X0 Gripshift for a few years now. Only time I ever had to do any adjusting was when servicing bike and replacing Cables. Not a day of troubles at all. Love the fact that you can grab a handfull of the twister on both up or downshifts, and it will change gears without baulking. Can also infinately adjust the front Derailer, no chain rubbing.

Did a race with a friends 650b with XX triggers a month or so back. Man, what an experience. Shifting was crisp and immediate, especialy at front, both up or down. Also used another friends Spez with XT / XTR groupo for a week or two. Although good, not a patch on the XX.

Don't think I'll ever go back to Shimano.

XX1 recently on bike.

Fantastic, I love the gear ratios. 34 front ring ( Wolf tooth, so saved a few grand on new cranks).

Well over 60km/h before I spin out in the 10 and the 42 is, for me, a bail out gear.

Love gripshift, always have, new xx1 gripshift ( no problems with mine, so far) is awesome, smooth, precise, easy, light.

XO1 seems a very good idea for the 'consumables'. Already for sale on CRC at 2/3 the price of XX1.

Quiet.

Go and give it a ride OP, I'm sure you will love it.

So...

Im considering this for the Enduro sled.

I would need...

1 x XX1 Cassette

1 x XX1 Derailleur

1 x XX1 Shifter

1 x 11spd chain

1 x Hope hub spacer

Will keen running my cSixx 150g chainguide with bash plate so I can keep using my Blackspire Mono Veloce chainring .

That is still R10500 for a groupset... Is it really that much better considering I can do 2x10 for a lot less money.
