That the cost of cycling has nothing to do with the purchase price of your bike ...

Never has a truer word been written.

In order to be even moderately good, relatively large sacrifices have to be made.

Which is why I am moderately average.

no matter how fast you think you are, there's always someone faster than you.

No matter how slow you are, there's always someone slower than you.

One thing l learned from cycling.........

Does not matter how often or hard i hit them with my head / shoulders / ass, rocks will not bleed. All the blood seems to be mine. Balance practice maybe?

If I had to post only one: "Money can't buy talent, and talent trumps money"

Training/Riding trumps talent.

I disagree, having a nice bike improves my riding in so many ways.

Sure it doesn't roll up a hill but it inspires me to push myself beyond what I ever thought I could do. Looking down at a beautiful machine makes it an absolute pleasure to sit on the saddle, even when I cant feel my ass anymore.

As for MTB, the difference is night and day. A great bike is much more fun to ride, it's faster where it counts abs inspires confidence where I would probably crap myself on something else.
