I personally don't ride in kit of events that I haven't completed but I know some people that have bought gear at the Epic as spectators and ride in it. I didn't realize it was such a sensitive thing to do.

Point taken.

Am I guilty then if I wear my husbands Comrades shirts because he doesn't? (and they're comfy) and I've never run Comrades

Can't be, it's still sitting very snug.

Last year Craft Epic kit was available from Sports Basement for R300 per item.

In fairness, the Epic branding on these was so small you had to squint to realise it had any branding.

and yes, guilty of buying my nephew a couple of jerseys at a bargain price

Interesting topic. Made me think about the Springbok jersey or Man United kit I can buy. But those are team franchises. Same with team cycling kits. But individual amateur events? I tend to concur with Wyatt.

I had a shop recently try sell me a Craft Epic jacket, I kept telling him I didn't want it as I haven't done the race, but he kept insisting that the Epic is a franchise and anyone should be able to wear them without having done the race.

This was from one of the bigger shops in CT.

anyone who has ever bought TDF kit, how dare you wear it in public.......... I agree with the amabubesi kit though - thats just wrong

There is a difference between TDF/Springbok/Man Utd vs Epic Kit as the epic is a pro-am event where as the others are well known to be replica pro kits.

Jip, like buying a comrades shirt without ever doing it.

My dilemma, bought a lekker Comrades track top this year, it's proper warm and often of late the most suitable extra layer in my cupboard... can't bring myself to wear it in public though. Ran the race, even got all the way to the finish, but no medal for me

I'm going to solve the problem next year though

How many of us ride in replica team shirts and bibs? Is it not the same principle?

But I do agree with the OP, I looked at it and although at the price they would make great training shirts I too decided to not support it as I don't think I would be able to get over not having done the Epic - Now if the Epic logo could be removed....
