So, on my daily commute home today, I became part of the new sport in SA. Seems like it is becoming the "in" thing to throw cyclists with objects from a moving vehicle. Yesterday the same 3 guys came past and threw a soft something at me, but missing. Today again they trew me with something, this time heavier and hitting me in the ribs. I was furious. Next time it may be a brick?

 

Now, how would you react to this and what action would you take. I know that I will get them on that same route again.

 

Get one of these with pepper pellets.

My main problem is that there is no other route and if I kick a dent in their door they will prbably drive over me the next time. Maybe I should wait for them with my car and follow them, get their addres and so trace them.

Yah, thats the way I would say is the right way to handle this sort of thing, if you can reach them of course, make them know you saw what they did and are aware of it,..... sadly I guess the OP cant get to them.

 

Ja, the problem is they get me at the foot of a hill, but on thursday I will leave 5 min early, so that they have to pass me near the top, if they do, I will be able to get them at the bottom, I will take a pick of their vehicle and regestration and post it here. I will also report it to the local police, as soon as I have their regestartion.

I've been shot by a BB gun going up Krugersdorp hill, one shot straight to the butt cheek. The pain was unbelievable, inflicted by a bunch of youngsters that obviously thought it was cool and/or funny. My reaction was a full blown verbal attack, which they found even funnier.

I had an insident in Rustenburg where a car with an "adult" driver and a bunch of youngsters overtook me slowly from behind, and once next to me started to "drift" to the left, squeezing me against the pavement. I luckily got on the brakes early enough to escape being forced against the curb. Once past me he got back into the driving lane properly. Thinking that he might have been preoccupied with chatting to the youngsters, I did not react in any way, just decided to be more aware. At the next intersection there was a Traffic light that was red, and he had to stop (which is strange in itself, as in Rustenburg they tend to treat a Red trafficlight like a Yield sign.)

As the light went green I accelerated away quite smartly, and the oke in his car took his time pulling away. I heard him coming up from behind and was ready for him if he pulled the same move, which he did. As he accelerated away I could see him looking at me in the rearview mirror and demonstrate to the other people in the car how "cool" he was by pushing me up the curb. Luckily the next traffic light was also red, with other vehicles already stationary, so he had to stop. I pulled up next to him and his window was open. As I engaged him to find out what his story was, he started abusing me verbaly (you must mos know, he is the "main man" amongst the youngsters, he must impress them with his manliness) All I did was to calmly lean over and give him a PK, told him to stop being a box, and cycled off. Fearing that he will now come after me, I was in a state of high alert, with the pepperspray ready in my hand.

As he passed me again, he gave me a wide berth, more than was necessary. As the car disapeared down the road I could see the youngsters scream with laughter.

 

I did happen to meet him a couple of days later at the same intersection. I smiled at him but he ignored me like a Stop sign. (wonder if he recognized me )

So bullies must be put in their place, otherwise they will just carry on bullying people.

Riding near 4 - Ways early one Sunday morning I heard a car coming up behind me and as it overtook I saw it was a luxury SUV with 4 very smartly dressed occupants - must have been returning from a function held that night.

 

Anyway one of the woman wound down the passenger window and leaned out still in her evening dress. For one split moment I thought she was going to say hello or something but she threw a full glass bottle of beer at me. I dropped my head and it hit me on top of my helmet, leaving just a dent and me covered in beer.

 

They all screamed with laughter and raced off.

One of my riding buddies had a poephol come up behind him and hoot. He got a moerse skrik. It was on a straight downhill and he was able to see the oke turn into a small shopping centre up ahead. He chased after the oke and confronted him. The oke was a reall gomgat and opened up a can of whoopass on my buddy. Beat him up real bad. There were witnesses and the criminal had to pay a settlement. Still it was very unpleasant.
