There's already a few guys doing what you're thinking of and many guys just order themselves directly from the factory.

My next order next month with include a load of forks and maybe a frame...but will be doing it to help tjommies, zero markup. Sortof what we did with CRC hub group orders

1. I am still in the process of clearing out the last few details

2. If you guys are patient enough for our exchange rate to settle again after the Mandela issue, parts will work out cheaper

3. The more orders I get, the cheaper it will be

4. I am working on an alternative shipping method to reduce the shipping costs, but this will only take place in the next few weeks

5. This is a work in progress idea

 

So finally, yes I am working to start a distribution deal which I am going to make happen. It will be cheaper and each product complies with safety and quality standards before being shipped out. Each product is also quality checked

Your idea is great and I (and I'm sure most Hubbers) hope it's a success for you.

 

Thing is, it's not a new, ground breaking idea. Many okes bring parts in themselves and they too will benefit from the exchange rate settling down.

 

Obviously bulk orders will assist you and an alternative shipping method may give you a competitive edge.

 

You will of course to some degree be competing with 'carbon29er' here on The Hub. He already offers great service and has established a good name here on The Hub...

I would be surprised if you could beat the deal of someone doing it themselves direct with China. Especially if individuals get together for a group buy. The only thing I see going for you is the concerns people have dealing with China and not knowing whether they will get good quality or cheap crap, then they can visit you and see for themselves before buying, which is something you cannot do when ordering online.

 

However all those who have taken the plunge have found out that quality is good and the experience in painless... provided the research has been done. Look at Rouxtjie, who is now a covert to Chinese buying!! haha

Yea there needs to be value add from Jaco to get people to bite....dealing with the guys in the east is very easy(great service)....also my frame arrived within 6 days(less than a week ito turnaround time), so there is zero value there. Jaco needs to either sell his goods cheaper or provide a SLA of a week if something does go wrong...for him to be able to do that he needs a big stockholding and bring in, in bulk to save on shipping, my 2c
