I don't think one can blame him for supporting LA (or any other doper) but personally I've had enough of his commentary. Sure he is a nice enough guy and his support for SA is great but its time for a new perspective.

I disagree, Phil has a genuine love for South Africa and has a second home in Gordon's Bay. He has done numerous speaking engagements in the area for no personal gain but to support charities. Yes he made a mistake on the Lance issue, but he freely admits he was wrong. So were many others...

He also has a place in the lowveld, Hoedspruit area if I am not mistaken, bit of bird boffin.

Guess the issue is to know when to call it a day .... P&P are great when you getting into the sport, but after n years., they do tend to sound like a stuck record.

a smattering of tautology there old boy

Naah, not tautology. The words have two different meanings. I interpret it as "insulting attack" and in the context of the sentence, that's what he (Andrew I think) meant. It may be pretentious but the tone on The Hub is usually so below average that raising the IQ every now and then is not a bad thing.

Inversive is a synonym for vituperation as I read it so its like liking like. Often happens when journo's get in a bit over their head but it could also be designed useof irony as Phil is known for his faux pas such as tautology during commentary i.e.

"the cheese and diary region of France"...........er Phil, Cheese is adairy product....

I have it on good authority that Phil rides a 29er :)

Sort of like living in PTA and supporting the sharks (Very confused)

I like Phil, keeping one entertained for three weeks without making any mistake on commentary, or calling a wrong name is excusable IMO. Same goes for Paul.

They are to the Tour what Hugh Bladen is to SA Rugby, or what Murray Walker was to F1 GP. We`ll probably miss them when they`re gone.

I`d much rather listen to them than that irritating bloke who did the live-on-the-bike commentary.

Turn the volume down if it annoys you.

I agree with you for sure!

Yeah, I am also tired of him, theres a time to come and a time to go,..........Charles Fortune was also great at one stage.!
