Endomondo vs Strava

Endomondo on the phone app and then upload garmin data to strava and vitality and everything else that I record my rides on.

Mainly because with endomondo, people can track where I am along a ride just in case something happens, and I don't believe that option is available on any of the other apps.

MapMyRide has the same option

On a side note, for those of us who's been on Endomondo for years. I think alot of people stick with their choice of "activity tracker" because of all the history they have on there, so if you feel "locked in" with Endomondo:

(Android App that Exports all your activities) : https://play.google....on.exportomondo

(PC App that can do it) : https://www.bytopia....from-endomondo/

EDIT: These are for BULK exporting (you can export 1 by 1 directly on Endomondo of course)

I can only confirm the Android app works and does not require an IT Degree . The PC options looks like you will need some tech savvy to get right.

Anyway, since i also use Garmin Connect (again similar to Endomondo) i was already uploading to 2 services, but with Strava it is actually nice to have your history in there too , especially to compare activities (and to get that "Suffer Score") and all that (something Endomondo does not do that well).

Strava only has segments over Endomondo. Endomondo has a lot over Strava. I import certain workouts into Strava to see how I fared when I really raced.

Careful with Strava.

Some people out there take it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to seriously and get really bent out of shape if you come anywhere near their 'hard fought for' KOM's.

This can lead to strained relationships with riding buddies, etc should you do ANYTHING that remotely tampers with the legitimacy of a KOM you may have 'stolen' from them.

Each and every segment should be clearly marked, indicating what form of transport is acceptible, time of year, breakfast, clothing etc etc in order to attempt it. Save all evidence as proof of legitimacy as you will be questioned thoroughly following a successful KOM.

Stravass***es seem to forget that their actual pecking order in the 'real' world would be much the same as in any race or national championship where professional riders compete...

RunKeeper work very well for me. Really good information and keep track of every piece of information for you.

Thank goodness they have someone as high and mighty as you to remind them who they are in the real world

Guys how accurate are the calorie counters on these aps? I burn almost double on the same ride than what I do on Strava. I don't use a hr belt with them tho.

When I add my Heart Rate from my Polar manually on my Endomondo workout, the callories burned jumps to nearly another 75%. on what it assumes from the ride stats.

75% is allot

I also add my polar max and average values into each ride and I have done a quick calculation of my last 5 rides of what is the percentage difference and its 10% more on Endomondo, which I would say is fair

I think its quiet difficult to estimate these values as there are so many factors that come into play.

To the STRAVA experts,

First question : My boet and i did Jonkershoek, rode the exact same distance, elevation etc but at the end of the ride my elevation gain was higher ? Then a week later we do Meerendal and the same happened ?

Second Question : Went for a ride last night, when i finished and sync the tool it showed i did the ride with a +1, which im sure i was alone !! Or was i ??

From strava:

"Strava detects devices with barometric altimeters and recognizes the data from that source. Since elevation data derived from a GPS signal is fairly inaccurate, Strava automatically corrects elevation derived from a GPS source by consulting elevation databases to determine the elevation at each point in the activity.

If you suspect that your elevation data is incorrect, you can request an elevation lookup. Click on the "Elevation" text under the elevation statistic above the map. The dialogue pops up with a button to "Correct Elevation". This button will only appear for data collected with a Barometric Altimeter, or if a previous automatic elevation correction has failed. After a short while, the "Calculating" text will change to "Updated", and if you click on "Updated" your page will refresh with the new elevation data. "
