Can the solo riders, ride in bunches with Teams & other solo riders i.e. In the slipstream/suck wheel whatever you want to call it or is that not allowed?

Also if you are able to ride non stop are you allowed to or is there a compulsory stop somewhere along the route?

There's about 5-6 of us intending to ride it, i've yet to do over 100km offroad yet. Longest day i think is 220km on road so this is a serious challenge for myself and the lil mrs.

I don't think there's any restrictions wrt slipstreaming etc, that'll be hell for the organisers to manage.

No compulsory stops from my knowledge, but from what i remember reading on past events, 2 proper meal stops, so guessing Sat brekkie and dinner.

Idea is to go out there, have fun and finish it, not aiming to be a hero ;)

Thanks Clinton, Have you done it before? This is confusing why is Route broken up into 4 stages?

How is it going with the training, I really want to do this, did the 240km/24hr Transbaviaans last year for the first time and really enjoyed it (already entered for this year again)

But this is the Ultimate and now really consider doing this.

I take it that you don't get bins to keep at waterpoints (as in Transbaviaans) for nutrition/spare parts?

Happy training

Entered today - so part 1 done

Accomodation next, luckily there's about 4-6 of us doing this so expenses can be kept to a minimum.

Did a long ride on Sat, still early days for training & went over the bars, couple grazes but else alive and riding still.

I think they've got a 180km option as well now, not sure where i saw it.

Not sure about the bins, it would be a nice option but i think we're planning on carrying everything we need to finish.

Just do it! Friend passed away this weekend, you get reminded how short life really is. When i asked a past rider if he was prepared, he told me "If you had to be prepared for everything in life, you'd never do anything".

So i'm going out there to test myself again, see what i'm really capable of :)

5250m of vertical assent!! CrAzY i tell you! Geez looks like a monster!

If you work that out across the ascent per km, it's not that bad, i've done worse in a stage race across 3 days.

Pace yourself and i believe you'll finish.

& with a signature like that, i assume ur a COW ;)

That will probably hurt quite a bit, but seems manageable over the distance.

Luckily there are lots of guys around town training for the epic, so no shortage of fellow riders on the long rides over the weekends!
