Not sure what you are rambling on about, issue was simple Thule agents decided not to help, Thule HQ brings to light that they should have, OP correctly assumed that was the case and therefore was frustrated at having his time wasted.

Basic escalation , CL rightly or wrongly referred the guy to Thule franchise who at that point should have solved the problem and brought up the issue with CL if procedure had not been correctly implemented , not given the customer with a legitimate defective Thule product the run around.

Not sure what you are rambling on about either.

Just imagine if Samsung had to hold the hand of every dealer they have (as an example)

But just to make things clear, I don't think the OP has been very honest and transparent, that and the fact that I am not a "one side of a story" kind of guy.

But Li Mu Bai put it really elegantly.

So I bought a Thule EuroWay G2 923 from a Cyclelab (Authorised dealer) on Tuesday, had some problems with the rear lights, they did not work/match my car, so had the car toe point checked by Bosal (they fitted it) and confirmed it's all working fine/wired to SABS standards etc.

Phoned a Thule dealer (Boksberg) on Friday morning, told since it was not bought from him, but Cyclelab (according to hime, Thule SA and Cyclelab both buy their stock from the same importer) I have to return to the bike shop, since this was electrical I though I'd rather have a Thule agent fix it than expect the Cyclelab to have to resolve the problem so went to another Thule dealer (Ceedar) this morning, again confirmed the problem, but got told they don't have stock, I then suggested we just swop out the light units/bar with another unit's that they have in stock, hmm, no go, no interest to help further, (at this point the techie helping me disappeared and maybe a manager returned with a phone to his ear, on the phone with Cyclelab) then got told I have to take the unit back to the Cyclelab, basically not their problem since it was not bought from them.

I bought Thule for the name, for the backup/support. Epic failure.

Ye I went to the bike shop, and the guys there went out of their way to resolve the problem, they also did not have the same unit, but they were happy to swop the lights out from a 921.

Making me wonder if I will ever buy Thule again.

Sorry dude, but this one is on you. Had you phoned the importer and they had sent you to Boksburg after calling them, different story. But to ask another shop to sort out your issues after not supporting them in the first place is just plain cheeky.

Have had a few experiences when to expedite a warranty claim a shop will refer me directly to the authorized agents, I'm assuming CL did the same thing and the OP naturally thought that would be an excellent idea as the agents should know the product like the back of their hands, will have a full range of the correct spares and or replacement units to repair or swop out his faulty unit. Op was in urgent need of his bike carrier so going to the agents to sort it out does seem like the wisest move. Does that sound like an inconceivable set of circumstances?

But you'd rather attack the OP's character?

I don't know maybe you and him got beef!

Maybe you should read the thread from the start.

My only beef with the OP is his topic heading and his transparency.

I am not buying his story, and perhaps instead of making me your one target in this thread, you would have noticed I am not the only one.

Everything he did is conceivable and understandable, creating a thread around it to throw a little tantrum that's the part I don't buy.

Also by applying you logic, we would assume that the "Boksberg" dealer is rather shady, seeing The Hub was saved from this unscrupulous character .

Yet you have not even heard their side of the story.

**edit**

I have never met the OP.

Perhaps OP should invest in a multimeter for that occasional bit of electrical troubleshooting, would have save us all of this six pages of this trauma.

Assuming he knows his -ve's from his +ve's , his is in IT after all.

Eeish, drama queen :P

Thehub is about talking about the stuff you have to go through, this is just another experience.

I think it's great we now all know that Thule's aftermarket support at their agencies is maybe a little to be desired but a call the the HQ should square things up, the op didn't know that but now we can all learn from the experience.

The Boksburg guy was feeling lazy, not a shady guy as you framed it, just needs to do his job, they haven't opened their mouths so who's to blame for that, lots of people appear to know the guys there, why not do the right thing and call them up and get them on the thread to have their say?

Then to be completely fair, shouldn't the thread title be something like "CycleLab/Thule customer epic fail"?

Did the OP pitch up at the Thule branches unannounced? Did he have his PoP with him? Many more questions...

Yes absolutely, but accusations of climbing in to the OP's character and whatever else when the first bit of name calling started with this post below.

And all that against people who can't defend themselves.

Now this is what you call "drama queen" posting.

vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

Needs to be brought into the open, when another Thule franchisor try's this bollocks other hubbers can be aware that the guy is operating out of line and needs to buck up.

And Thule needs to wake up and educate their franchise holders thoroughly, how many other people have spent a frustrating afternoon running around like a tit because some lazy prick won't do his job.

Very cool, especially when the poor innocent "lazy prick" had nothing to do with this in the first place.

The OP should feel downright embarrassed for dragging someone's name through the mud unnecessarily.

Yes to your first sentence, and I will hazard a guess as to a yes on the second.

^^^ lost you a while back there bru

Good for you on your crusade to protect the Thule brand.

Lots of assumptions being made by all and sundry, that is I suppose one of the big challenges on threads of these natures.

The only thing you lost is your pride and possibly acknowledging that you are the one who overreacted with your first post.

You didn't lose me at all, you are simply feeling a little embarrassed I think.

The drama queening started with the creation of this thread and your need to feel that The Hub and it's people needed to be protected against the Boksburg Thule dealer.

I have no crusade to protect the brand, people like William do a good enough job to discredit someone like the OP and this thread.

I still maintain the topic heading was with malicious intent and the "Boksberg" dealer os owed an apology, from the OP and yourself for calling him a "lazy prick"

William has no business interest in Thule SA anymore.

He is another dealer, marketing his wares under the banner of Rack'n Road.

There is very little cohesion as far as product brand building is concerned in this country. If you buy a product from a, don't expect b to honour the warranty or the product. You pocketed the savings on whatever promo was going at the time, you take the drive back to the same place when it gives you ***.

I have edited out the naughty word so hopefully you will feel better about things.

You need to read very carefully and understand what this thread is about.

It's about Thule and how the OP and Skylark feel that the importer needs to hold the hand of every reseller on their books.

I merely stated that a Thule reseller like William is doing a great job in upholding the integrity of the brand.

As for the highlighted parts in your post.

I agree fully.

The OP should have sorted this between CL and himself instead of dragging other innocent entities in to this.

I have no interest in protecting the brand or any other dealer.

My gripe is with the fact that some random and arb. highly strung and unreasonable individual can create any rant thread and too often only one side of the story gets accepted .

In this case I feel (and some others feel) that the OP was out of line.

At least now when some random individual googles Thule and their integrity in S.A. and they find this thread, they can map up their own mind as to how they feel about it.

OP, if I was you, I would pick up the phone, call the guy in the Berg and apologize.

You threw the bone, or did you like the OP think you could just say as you please and everyone would agree ?
