ALL SPRUIT RIDERS MUST WATCH, especially Strava**holes

Agree 100%. And likewise not everyone who rides trail bikes are posers.

This is not a cycling only occurrence. In surfing and golf people are labeled all the time, based on their equipment or performance.

What I struggle to understand about modern society is that people cannot allow others to just be what they want to be. Everyone needs to fit into a little box with a label based on how they look and what they do.

Did anyone watch Premium Rush last night ?

Even the couriers can't get along, it's the no brakes fixie riders with steel bikes versus the fancy carbon geared bike group.

We and nobody is immune to this.

I saw that, and the video has a guy on a long travel bike and that comment must have been made in reference to that.

It didn't say "river rat @$$holes ,you've been warned"

What would you call the guy racing through a public park narrowly missing the head of your child with his bars also causing the kid to have such a fright that he starts hysterically crying.

Most likely "boet" or "chom"

So over it.

Rigid... is NOT spelled with a T... :)

I am with you on this H - this really should be about having some MANNERS on the trail - I really don't care what people wear or ride..... EXCEPT that they must have a helmet on.... and with the straps done up.

Depends how you look at it, the rockier the terrain. the more it shakes the teeth.

Not much, and that is why I don't over capitalize on travel, I make no mince about the fact that I don't have balls of steel, nor exceptional skill.

But it does sound like you have an issue with people (ladies included) that are trying to grow their balls.

All the "River Rats" i ride with are very polite on the trails, except for 1 but he is quite wide so it is hard for him to move out the way.

An inconsiderate tjop, regardles of his dress sense, or wheel size.

Agreed, I couldn't care less what a guy wears or rides because it has absolutely 0 impact on my life. However Rude people on a trail boil my blood

Are you taking those comments I made and applying them to someone you know ?

If that be the case, the old saying applies about the shoe that fits.

Saw some of these river rats at the one critical mass popping manuals down the road at the cinema stop, it was all cool and pretty till the one chap narrowly missed and oncoming vehicle.

Same said river rats at the same ride where family (wives and kids) join the ride try and show off , ho pavements, pop wheelies and manuals' in a bunch putting other peoples safety at risk.

No different really, wheel size, clothing and demographic has nothing to do with it, it's people, inconsiderate people.

As for the ball growing, let me get back to what I said much earlier in the thread, I think the Hickster should come and teach the Spruit clan how to ride those long travel bikes.

 Wow, there must be some magical powers in Lycra and 29" bikes by the look of things :

Take a mild mannered upstanding human being, squeeze him into a lycra bib and throw him onto a 29'er, and he's magically transformed into a child-scaring, trail ripping, rule busting, couldn't care less maniac; that's just amazing. What kind of wild animal would we get if an ill mannered tjop was to wear lycra and ride a 29'er ??? Godzilla would cringe... Gotta get me some lycra and a 29'er; I've been missing out on some exciting stuff.... :whistling:

Just like guns don't kill people, lycra and 29'ers don't make idiots; they're just like that naturally. Delusions of grandeur and disregard for other people come from bad breeding and bad manners; simple as that.
