Its funny I know, but it also says something about how capable today's "trail" bikes are (excluding the fact that Graves is an animal).

Oh definitely, but as per Graves' own assessment: "...for this track.."

Quick chat with Jared before the race. Said rider error would be the only reason he wouldn't do well today. He absolutely pinned it...

Would it be such a terrible thing if trail bikes make more regular appearances on DH? Shouldn't matter hey?

Now now, don't get too carried away there!

it depends on if you have the stance of the 29er crowd: bigger is better. it's all bullsheet marketeering to begin with. In the past few months, there's been a concerted push by those with investments in 29ers to market the shite outta it. My suspicion is that Mitch, is spesh's little b1tch in that regard. Granted, this particular track might just be ok for it, but after today, why is 29er better than 26" wheels, other than the sole fact it creates a new revenue stream from unsuspecting buyers, not to mention those who near-drowned themselves on 29er kool-aid, to justify the new expense. laughable.

but if you just saying everyone can ride what they feel, no matter the technical facts against a particular size wheel being the better option, then I totally agree with you.

btw: trail/freeride/single crown bikes have been hitting the DH scene for ages now, notably from those that can't afford to own two bikes. They did just fine. Dont fall for the marketeering.

Couldn't agree more... I just wish I could get a 24" trail bike!

And for single crown, you cant get tougher than Redbull Rampage, and these guys were dropping into unimaginable stuff with these "trail bikes"... And I think pictures just makes threads better!

Yeah, those 180mm forks are tough ass mofos. It's purely a case of the rider riding what he thinks may be best for the course.

Rapelato may indeed be the spezbitch, but he also needs to make a proper run to get any sorta points on the board in order to keep his ride. If Spaz are forcing him to ride a particular setup, that's pretty short-sighted of them.
