At the recent WC the commentators said that Nino had a device on his handle bars that allow him to adjust the lockout on his front fork to assist him on the climbs.

Is this beneficial or just a nice feature? been contemplating it since then

I like my lockout, some don't

If you going to get one, RS hydraulic is the only one that will stay troublefree(closed system, so no grime and dirt making the mech sticky)

I had the bar mounted lock out for my Reba, what I did notice is that if you are not careful and flip the bike over to take off a wheel etc, it catches in the ground and scuffs up pretty easily. I think they are around R500 or so.

flat29 I have seen some quite innovative DIY solutions on you tube. Just trying to figure out of its a good idea first before I do abit more research.

My Reba is locked from bar, last thing i want to do is fiddle with the lockout on the shock going over bumpy sections. But as Mojoman states, careful when tipping bike as the remote could get damaged.

Look. I love my fork and if I had to replace it or change to a different wheel size bike I would probably buy another brain fork but I must also say that it does give you a harsher ride.

I will also add that I rode my brothers bike which has a sid fork with remote lockout and on his bike I would rather leave the fork unlocked even on the uphills. You have to constantly remind yourself to unlock the fork thus I feel its not worth it. You gain more traction anyway by leaving it unlocked. I would rather say look at the air pressure you are running in your fork (If its a air fork) and play around with that to perhaps firm up the suspension and see how it influences your ride. You will however lose comfort and traction and gain a bit of power.
