If you buy a chainbreaker, either as part of a multitool or as a addition to your workshop, make sure the pin that pushes out the pin on the linkage of the chain can be replaced.

I am also in the market for a new multi tool. The Park Tool looks like an option. I was considering this Birzmanone from Evobikes. Anyone have some experience or useful info?

I have a Birzman one similar to that, just has carbon looking end plates - works fine - just make sure it has all the sizes you need of Alan keys/torx drives.

Stoopid question, do you carry spare links for your chain with you? Not sure if I am missing something in my toolbox?

Just waiting with my head down for the sarcastic comments I know are coming

I carry a spare link. Very good spare to carry. But only truly effective with a chain-breaker (to break the broken chain to fit the link.

It is not a stupid question, very valid one

If I am racing I carry 2 spare quick links - kind of inevitable you will drop one in the dirt never to be found again.. or the day you help someone out with one, you WILL need another one.

Very good question...and yes, carry a spare quicklink and pin as a backup...it weighs nothing and if you need them, nothing else will do...carry both. Also if you run into someone having chain problems you can be the hero and save the day. This is quite lekker especially if its some hot aunties and you are the prince in shining armour. :whistling:

I use the Lezyne v-10 multi tool.

One of the lightest and compact 10 piece sets around - works well for me.

I have the same one. It works well enough but I'd hardly call it good value. My favorite for durability and value are the Topeak multitools.
