I only came back from weekend break now, so it is the first time that I can post this.

I am the guy that wiped out very close to the end before the last water point. I do not know what happened as I lost consciousness when I fell. I came to only when a guy pulled me out of the ditch with blood flowing over my face. I was completely disorientated.

The Good Samaritan took complete control when he found me. He phoned the emergency number as I was apparently trying to get back on my bike. He stayed with me and kept me calm until the first paramedic arrived. He gave his time to help me.

After the medic arrived he got on his bike and left.

All I can sort of remember is that his name is Arno (I think) and that he is from the Paarl. I think he said that he had 2 punctures on the race.

If anyone maybe know who I am talking about please pm me his or your details so that I can thank him. He is a hero in my book.

Great to know there is still Humans out there.

Not everyone wants to stop for your troubles.

Rest up well and Enjoy the ride.

Hope this account serves as a reminder for the rest of us that improving on your time does not serve as a reason to forgo on your humanity, compassion and care for fellow riders. You will feel much better about your ride when lending a helping hand. There is a thing such as "Die "Blinde Sweep". You don't know when it is going to strike, but when it does it hits hard and continuously (so don't complain when on the receiving end).

Respect to the Good Samaritan.......maybe start a thread for name and praise these individuals.

To the rider that got injured, hope you recover quickly.

Glad to hear you okay! I went past you when the paramedic were with you. Still remember him asking you how long do you think you were out...

Goodluck with the healing process!

Wow what a goosebump. Maybe you should ask K2C organiser to track down the name with "Amos" or maybe start with A?

Let us know how your healing go. Speedy recovery

Good on Arno!

Same thing happened at the Argus challenge last year. Buddy of mine is a firefighter with first aid training. We killed our total time helping this guy out who had passed out in the vineyards... was incredibly hot.

The satisfaction one gets from helping somebody in need far outweighs any satisfaction that comes from finishing a race. MTBing imo is as much about other riders as it is about you.
