Thor Buttox Posted October 21, 2013 Share I gave a lot of thought to not pitching because the race was 40-odd km's passed any previous ride, but in retrospect, I'm glad I rode, because I had a frustrating day with punctures and a lot of solo riding into the wind to catch the only group in sight, but I finished feeling quite strong. I'm still beating myself up for missing the race, but at least I think I had a valid reason... I was studying the night before, for today's exam, and overslept. Woke up and ended up leaving my place at 06h50. Got to Stellenbosch at 07h30. Quickly got ready and damn, everyone has started already. I stupidly asked if the timing mat is still there, and it was already removed... The worst part is that the missus came to support me... :'( Only option I had, come back home... study hard as if I am there, wake up early today to get to that exam room on time... and kill it!!! Dicky DQ Posted October 21, 2013 Share Ho well I bailed at the Botlary and went home. Why? It was my first time back on the bike after 2 weeks of flu. Started OK and then just ran out of steam.
