Weather or medical, it depends on the individual situation of the person.

I personally, if I pre-enter a race, I would still do the race, even if it rains...

I gave a lot of thought to not pitching because the race was 40-odd km's passed any previous ride, but in retrospect, I'm glad I rode, because I had a frustrating day with punctures and a lot of solo riding into the wind to catch the only group in sight, but I finished feeling quite strong. So now any 100km race is going to be much much easier!!

Did SSSC this year with the worst hangover known to man, we got to bed at about 5AM after a crazy party involving a midget playing thunderstruck at the local pub....no jokes. Who knew hilton had such a pumping nightlife.

1 bottle of epic pro, 1 boerewors roll, 2 x painkillers and another beer....let's race

Jeez! Well done! When were you born? They didn't build them as tough in '78...

79....its only the first 5km that was hond, it did help that they only had beer at the waterpoints...hahaha so you could maintain your tipsyness.

All your comments are fair.

I am not upset or pointing anything at anybody.

As i said before, surprised at high numbers of No Shows.

Sadly I am one of those. This would have been my first one Tonner, damn! I'm still beating myself up for missing the race, but at least I think I had a valid reason...

I was studying the night before, for today's exam, and overslept. Woke up and ended up leaving my place at 06h50. Got to Stellenbosch at 07h30. Quickly got ready and damn, everyone has started already. I stupidly asked if the timing mat is still there, and it was already removed...

The worst part is that the missus came to support me... :'(

Only option I had, come back home... study hard as if I am there, wake up early today to get to that exam room on time... and kill it!!!

Ho well I bailed at the Botlary and went home. Why? It was my first time back on the bike after 2 weeks of flu. Started OK and then just ran out of steam. Just felt k@k for dropping the mates I was riding with as it was a DC team training ride.
