With 73km to go, the time gap is less than two minutes (1.52) between the reunited nine riders and the peloton still led by Katusha. Europcar is noted just behind Katusha in the chase, which suggests that Thomas Voeckler is ready to challenge Joaquim Rodriguez for the polka dot jersey.
