My mate was first Master across the line. A good time was the goal, winning the category an added bonus. At prize giving the category got nothing though. Weren't even called up. What's up with that? Organisers "enter" you in the Masters due to your age, but give everyone else prizes and not the Geezers.

What's the point of the category then, would be my question?

Come on Carel! If you don't have the prizes to give to the Old Boys, let me know for next year. Table Mountain Bikers will put something together for them.

Top 3 Masters was called up but non off them was there. Prize giving was @ 13:00

Well, then that's different info to what I was told by my mate that won the Masters. He was there for prize giving.

No there was prizes for all 3. He should contact them. Originally there was no prizes but because the masters veld was so big they decided to give them prizes.

Come on Kandui, surely you understand it's all about elite mens and the rest are an afterthought? ;)

I realised that at the Ride the Rhino where we were 2nd twice and 3rd and got sweet zip nada. Only the first place pro's got to come up and get a prize. Only when we spoke to Paul Valstar about it, did they make a plan at the final prize giving. I have never gotten a podium (except a third in the Masters last year on day 3 of the Knysna 200), so I felt quite precious about getting to go on stage. I fought for it. Even if they just give you a bottle of wine , it's the right thing to do.

My mate who got dissed today was my partner there and in Knysna, so it would be a sore point for him.

But I hear you! We are the "also ran's" that make up the profit for the organisers.

Matt Beers 10th SA rider, 16th overall. Just turned 20, 1st ever ultra-marathon and this can't be much more than his 5th ever mtb race.

I spoke to him at Trail of Origins, says he raced motocross before and was in America and broke his leg or foot and could not ride at that level any more and came home and sat with his coach and trainer who has has been his coach for the last 6 years or something and they decided to go MTB and the rest is history.

This youngster has a very big future ahead of him and seems to be in good hands by the looks of it.

Does anyone know what happened to Timo Cooper? I think I saw him sitting at the spur stop and he didn't look ok. I was rushing so didn't chat. He is one of our best so just hope it was only a bad day nothing else.

I also really liked the new start. It gives you a bit of time to sort out the field and we don't have to go through the gate. Wouldn't mind a few extra kms round there at all. As usual an excellent event top marks for Dryland.

How did you do? Time?

Atta number 4 done, 7:30. With my pedal coming off the spinal in the last 20km so it was a single leg strategy to limp home.

That's the third Shimano XtR pedals that have broken like that. 1 per year. Wtf

Atta done, had a great ride & thoroughly enjoyed it. Found the going easier with the concrete strips added. sharkysa - save money & headaches, buy XT. Had the same issue with XTR, pedal coming off the shaft.
