To cut a long story short, spokes are ordered for a wheel rebuild.

Silver needed.

What arrives.?

Don't mind black or silver ... but both wheels need to be the same.

Only re-building one, hence the problem.

Get another brand of spokes.

 

I think the LBS are actually being lazy. If one distributor doesn't have stock, inform the client and call another distributor. EASY

 

Also AFAIK, black spokes are more expensive so both the distributor and the LBS are getting more if they apply the same % mark up. (Just my opinion and not fact)

Apparently alternative sources were tried without success.

Black spokes are indeed more expensive, but because no silver were alvailable, they were willing to give these at silver prices.

Doesn't solve the problem of different coloured wheels though, and rebuiling a perfectly good wheel seems so unnecessary.

Apparently '650B' spokes are also almost twice the cost of 26" spokes .......

I had to order silver spokes from CRC the last time.

It's all part of the BSE(black spoke empowerment), a sub division of BEE.
