New Pivot fat bike

Built to adapt to 4 different wheel size standards ( 26 X 3.8, 26 X 4.8, 27.5+ and 29+) with the ability to run rigid or suspension for the front end, 1x, 2x, or even single speed drivetrains, and internal dropper posts.

Pretty much the case on all fat bikes... These previously non- fat bike producing brands seem to be using what is common knowledge (ability) on these bikes as marketing spin.

But it looks cool.

So I was just at Tool-Up cycles and they have a new Rocky Mountain Blizzard there. I took it on a parking lot test.

I can definitely see the fun factor. If I had the R24 500 asking price in freely disposable income I would have ridden it out the door and not returned.

rode my mates salsa on the weekend, comfy, light, fun, different would i buy one no,,

if someone offers you a ride take it its worth a try personally i cant see someone putting down a decent dual sus. bike and ONLY riding a fat bike,

unless you got lots of space/money  for impulse buy, in sa to me it doesnt make sense

If I had one I'd ride it all the time on non-racing rides. Notwithstanding the price of tyres or availability of fat-specific parts, it'd make a great comfy commuter/spruit ride.

My cheeks might not survive all the smiling though....

Rode mine a lot over the holidays, every time with mates on 'normal' mountain bikes. Definitely had to work a lot harder and at times I struggled on some sections (wet, slippery rocks). Overall I would say its well worth owning one, but it cannot replace a marathon or XC bike. Its awesome when you ride with a slower crowd but hectic the other way around. Was thinking about doing Sani2C on it, not so sure anymore.......

this part i dont understand after riding my mates we were chatting and he said when its very wet and Muddy it "sucks" to the ground as if a vacum is created. no whats the thinking behind the bikes if slippery rocks and mud is a problem, i thought the whole idea was RIDE OVER ANYTHING and snow,,,,we dont have snow so i go back to LEKKE TOY BUT MAKES NO SENSE FOR US SAFFAS

I have Ground Control tyres with wide tread spacing, fantastic on gravel, hard pack, soft sand etc, but poor on wet rocks. Mud is ok. I'm shocking on wet rocks on my marathon bike so not a great example. As I've said before, its impossible to truly justify a fatbike, but hell its fun!

Nooo DIPS!!!! We never buy bikes because we NEED them!! (n+1....)

The Fatty doesn't like  sloppy mud just like real mud tyres for 4x4 and 29'ers are narrower to bite deeper. They go like a dream over sand - we have a bit of that.

They go like a tractor over anything else.

hope you have a lekka year.
