Has anyone check how many 25 gram CO2 canisters it will take to pump up a 4,7 inch tire?

Will 2 x 25 gram enough?

Do one get bigger size canisters in S.A.?

Im planning on doing a few races with my Fat Bike, but not sure how many to take along, I'm for sure not taking a extra tube along, so if the tubeless setup go wrong its the long way on the feet back to the bakkie.

My wife has an air jacket that holds a 400gr canister. At R400.00 bucks a wipeout, you get encouraged to ride carefully. Pretty sure it would do the job in one pop. You could always carry it as a last resort.

Just curious, how hard would it be to convert a fatty into a normal 29" or 27.5" hardtail? Is it basically the same frame? I have an extra 27.5 wheelset and was wondering If I can change to that setup if I don't love the fatty down the line?

Proper fat bikes run wider hubs. So no you won't be able to run standard hubs in the frame. Fatbike manufacturers however usually offer a 29r wheel that fits - a 29" rim laced to hubs with the correct spacing - so one can run the frame as a 29r or 27.5+.

Thanks - looking at the specialised entry level model, not sure if it's completely crazy for Jhb trails/pavements...Really want one though!!

I'm waiting to see if Cannondale is going to bring out a fat bike!!

I will then get one, the lightest frame and components available and an extra set of hubs and then a pair of 29'er rims build on those fat hubs and then use one frame with the different wheel sets.

Now just to wait until March for the international launch of next years models .......

Guys, I’m walking with the idea to swop to one bike only and that will be my fat bike and then just have two sets of wheels, any negative effects that someone know about from riding permanently on a wider fatty…..the BB and pedals being a bit wider apart?

Until now I couldn’t feel any different muscles being used after a ride on the fatty!

The most noticeable differences for me was the (obviously) tyres and the additional weight that they brought and the wider stance required from the wider BB and chain stays. With the wheels/ tyres eliminated I would imagine it would just be the wider stance to get used to. Something I soon got used to.
