Blinkp Posted December 30, 2013 Share I need some advice from someone that has maybe owned both. I am looking at buying a frameset alone and can get both however the Giant is almost R8000 cheaper. I know the Giant has a alu rear swingarm but is tha TB really that much more special. Going to build it up with XX and ZTR Crests. Any advice please ? Sitting slip Posted December 30, 2013 Share Use the extra 8k for carbon wheels or other goodies
feetup Posted December 30, 2013 Share If you building it up-hell go with your heart .Its gotta be exactly what you think will give you the most joy. Most frames within your price range will be of superior build Edited December 30, 2013 by feetup
Baaisikilist Posted December 30, 2013 Share It's a no contest. Tallboy for sure. U won't get carbon wheels for 8k anyway. A set of ZTR's is more than adequate. Its like choosing between a Golf GTI and a Lambo. VT2jp and Robodog
Stevief Posted December 30, 2013 Share Isnt Tallboy technology old? I am also looking for a nice carbon DS trail frame and was advised that the TAllboy is a bit old tech. I would love a Camber Comp Spez but they dont sell frames only complete bikes. Giant is the best bang for buck but i find the design boring but its a very good bike. dee_biker Posted December 30, 2013 Share I have the Advanced for 4 months now... Will not buy anything else if I had to do it again... even if I had 8k extra. Edited December 30, 2013 by dee_biker

For me it is as MANY people said when I did my investigation on what to buy: If you want a bike for great fun and pedigree to play on trails with and have immense fun while doing it... Tallboy. If you want a super efficient XC racing machine with unbelievable suspension... Anthem. Edited December 30, 2013 by dee_biker

Baaisikilist Posted December 30, 2013 Share I hear you as I have the new Highball carbon and it is a fantastic bike but I am torn as there are also so many good reviews on the Anthem. If you search reviews on the Tallboy, you'll find that it's a multiple award winning bike in more than 1 international magazine review/shoot out... Do a search on the hub and on Google regarding Anthems cracking at the seat tube/top tube junction... That puts me off... They may have sorted the problem, but I'd still pay the extra 8 for a 'boutique' frame vs a 'run of the mill' bike you're likely to see plenty other people on. Like Scott's or Merida's.
