Transbaviaans 2014

It's my first. Pretty happy with where my training is, BUT, I changed my bike on Monday night. #Gulp. I've gone from a 26er dual sus to a 29er hardtail as I just got a brilliant deal for a new bike, so couldn't resist.

Took the puppy out for a 45km spin this afternoon and I'm very happy.

My friend did the race in 13:30 last year, we conservatively hoping for 12-15, just taking it easy, riding within ourselves and our heart rate.

We did say we'd like to get over bergplaas before it gets dark, but let's see how the wind blows. :)

Lots of corrigated road.....felt like 100km maybe slightly less Not a technical ride. Take the 26 full sus. Your @ss will be very happy with you!

The Baviaans is made for a hardtail. Lots of "tar" dirt roads as I like to call it. I'm running a tire pressure of 1,8 at the back and 1,6 at the front. Just make sure you put your old 26er's saddle on your new bike

I can never get my tyre pressure right, always start to hard then deflate to way too soft.

Good afternoon

Does anyone know if the camping facilities will be available at Kabeljous or should we arrange for B&B's.

Dont thing there is a camp site anymore.

The race doesnt finish at kabeljous anymore like the previous years.

I always wonder how many celebs take part in this. Anyone spot any on the entry list?

I quickly browsed but +-1400 names is a lot to "browse"
