Route 66

Day three the easiest of the lot. Was not impressed with today's route...what was with the 1km route through the informal settlement? To much road riding and no water for riders finishing (around the 3 hour mark) at the end!! R600 a day was really expensive...For R40.00 you can ride a lot of the route from Van Gaalens. The three days were a real challenge but not worth the money.

I want to say well done to Mrs RocknRolla, who finished 3rd in the solo female category on all three days, and overall.

exactly why I didn't enter. Considering you can enter a single day event for around R200, anything over R600 doesn't seem justified to my logic. This event was 3 times that

I see that the times are in line with last years, with Andrew Mclean only 2min slower over the 3 days compared to last year (granted it might be the difference between team and solo.)

I had to give the second two days a miss for a few reasons, yes it was a bit of a waste.

 

As I said, I wasn't really impressed with the route on Day 1 considering what must have been the other options to get from Lanseria to VG, and generally I felt the event had lots of bells & whistles aimed at Corporate types on flashy bikes, but not enough substance. Also way too many racing snakes shouting 'Track;' at my good plodding self first thing in the am was a enough to foul my day, lots of them must have been invited 'guests' the way The Epic does it.

 

Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Did the two day. I had a nice time, will definitely be back next year. Found it well organised and challenging enough.

I did the 3 day event. I think the route was well laid out, at least as good as you will get around Johannesburg. The water points was very good. Transport back to the start was run very well with no long waits. Very well organized event overall.
