What did the R120 race fee go for then?

I will try and get PPA membership tomorrow (that section of their site is down). Hopefully it will be enough to get the results for the tour the ppa up on racetec.

My time for this race has shown up on the Racetec site and as I said I am not a PPA member. Maybe I just got lucky, it's not like the PPA are known for being efficient

There are some lucky fish out there it seems. At least membership is not too much, so as of today I am a PPA member and will hopefully get my result for the tour the ppa on racetec. Sorry to all the peeps who will be moving one place down!

The entry fee pays for traffic cops, medics, use of the race course.......

Timing is paid from PPA membership fees. The amount PPA pays to Racetec is determined by how many members PPA has and how many events they put on for that year.

Is it fair? I don't know, except that I understand the PPA has to have some incentive for their members, and timing is one of those.

That would mainly be thanks to Racetec, not the PPA. Just go buy a Lotto ticket quickly before your luck changes. ;)

I understand that there needs to be an incentive, it just seems strange to do a race and then not get a result. What made it even more confusing was the fact that I always used to get my results on racetec without being a member. Anyway reading the info on the following link cleared up a lot of assumptions:

Will see you at more races now that you have signed up as a member now!

There are not many things that cheap that I get so much enjoyment from. Only thing that beats it for value is those R3 soft serve ice creams from McD's.

I find the idea that getting a result for a race you paid for to be regarded a special privilege / incentive to be petty/stupid. And it causes endless confusion as seen on this thread and numerous others.

Especially when (most) non-PPA races publish results without fuss

For me as a PPA member getting an earlier seeded start is more than enough incentive to join.

The other thing that I dont like is that my position might not be a true reflection of result. Meaning I can get position number 1 for the race, but 10 non-PPA members could have finished before me.

Good idea, on my way to do that now!

Non-PPA members start in temp so should only affect temp rankings and the lower groups as far as real results are concerned.

True for road races, not so much for mtb races where you often have strong riders in the temp groups and drafting not such a big factor.
