I came in at 2:55. At some stage a tandem got into the mix just before we crossed back over the R59. Pace picked up significantly. Guy in Mzanzi Tour kit joined me and we rode together for most of the 20km or so.

The 0/16 race was hard. It was 3 or 5 Europe Car 0/16's against a Cycle World Bloemfontein 0/16, and the Bloem guy got the win.

Are you one of the U16 that rode yesterday? It was a good race. Just a pity about the crash at the finish.

That VA group went all out around the 15km mark and absolutely blew the group to pieces.

YIp , I tried to position myself around that left turn however everybody did , found myself at the back and burnt my matches in one go up the incline only to see the group disappear . . .

Found a good rhythm and TT 80% the way joining the odd lone cyclist and group and leaving them behind or in the case of the VB's . . . leaving me behind as we are not allowed to join / interfere in their race . . .

good fun / great experience

that tandam got into our mix as we entered town, then the fun really started. Last 250m to the end he shot past us like were looking for a parking bay. Was quite funny and enjoyable seeing everyone getting cheesed because he didnt let them catch on!!

AL. It was the green Di-data kit chap that broke away if I can recall, and the buch just about caught him at the finish.

What i would like to know is when the group of 6 guys managed to break away? They took 4mins on the main bunch. was it at the accident when several guys fell? there was a huge accelleration just thereafter. Or was it later?

Good days riding, got 2:34 and felt strong.

I didn't see/hear the accident, but I suspect the breakaway must've happened at around the time of the accident. The fact that I didn't hear the commotion, tells me that we must've already started pulling away (unless the howling wind buffered the sound of carbon scraping on tar). We were more than 6 initially, probably closer to 12 (all the oxygen was going to my legs, so my memory is sketchy). By the time we were about 6km from the finish line we had thinned down to about 6.

Myself and another rider (Casper Kruger) broke away at about 12kms in the AL bunch. Unfortunately the woman driving the pace motorcycle fell back to the main bunch...... I still dont know why she did, and then the marshalls at the intersection gave us the wrong direction, and we overshot our turnoff by about 2km. We had to turn around and it took us 50km's to chase the main bunch down. By this time we where spent and not much left in the tank. We sat up with the bunch but I only discovered that Casper attacked again at 6km to go. I finished with the main bunch but still very dissapointed..... I felt we made a clean break and stood a very good chance to stay clear. When we joined up with the main bunch we had a average speed of 38kph. As they say "**** happens"

Anyone rode in the CL group? How was that group?

I rode in C : not many people were willing to work, and even when I did my share in front, no one would let me back in.... so had to drop all the way to the back, then come pace ...then all the way to the back again, rather frustrating

Rode with new shoes and cleats that totally buggered my feet , they were a nice purble underneath (lol). My time is a slow 3h02 , which im fairly happy with. Thanks to the super-fast guys along the way for keeping me going. Thumbs Up !

That was my team mate that went down. The guy in front of him crossed his line and took his front wheel out. He suffered a clean break of his collarbone, had a plate and pins put in yesterday.

Sorry to hear hope he recovers quickly, nothing as stupid as that to stuff up the beginning of the year and race season

Ok, Good effort. The crash was mid bunch, some guys must have touched and snap crackle pop. The chap just next to me grabbed too much brake - he shot over his handlebars as his bike hopped on the locked front wheel, was quite hectic.

Pity. sad when your giving your best and then sent on the wrong route - usually only happens in mountain biking.

I also rode C, and same time as well.

Was very difficult getting people to work, but caught a nice bunch for the last 20km or so.
