Agree. It makes a mockery of trying to do seedings as if it isn't difficult enough already.

Just yanking chain as I dropped a few groups to D-E to get some lower intensity training in and support a buddy.

All within the rules.

When higher seeded riders influence the race in lower seeded groups, I think it's uncool. Against etiquette.

Against the rules and regulations of PPA, I reckon not.

They started all Cat 1-3 before A-C, no apparent reason. There were also very large gaps left between the first few CATS then smaller ones for the rest.

It happened lots last year when the main bunch of Vets got reeled in at about 75 kms on the course on average.

The laaities in A kan gooi!

Some of us aren't "laaities" anymore ;)

In fact, I think the 14 of us who got away, we are all on the wrong side of 30, except for 1 elite rider.

Strange, i suppose the difference then like has happened/happens in the argurst racing cats, go for position (ftw). Seeded groups for time

Looking at the overall time/results its seems clear that a few of the stronger guys in Cat 2 should be riding Cat 1 and visa versa.

There are 10-13 strong riders in Cat 2 who get results, the remaining 40 odd just survive. I am one of the survivors. The rest of us must improve our riding and lift to their level, not make the strong guys leave and the level drops even further.

Feels like a lot of choice now when you have to decide which group to start in! Anything from Cat 1 down to D, thats almost a choice of 6 start groups!

Skistar15, racing Cats like Cat 2 race for position not time and is very different to a TT from the seeded bunches and dependant on how the race tactics work out will dictate the time of their category. You should know this because you could not handle how hard the racing was in Cat 2 and went back to seeded groups.

I was late so I started with H group or whatever group it was that started after Cat4.

Took some shots to keep me busy! ;)

Leaving Paarl:

Lekker seeing you again. Next will be nice if you can fix my saddle en route. I enjoyed sticking with the H-I (J/K) bunch. No one was tense and the pace was not uncomfortably fast but also not so slow that you can just chill all the way. Highlights was trying to slip the truck up Botmas and the last 10 km where me and couple of big guys used our weight in front. I usually hate it when people do it, but as I was sittig 3rd wheel I couldn't resist sprinting for position nr. 347....I struck a high speed of 64 which I'm extremely proud of.

But you're not A or yesterday's A-C, but CAT 2, right?

(Point taken though)

Special mention of the 17 year old talent that took top honours in CAT 1 with a 3 minute or so breakaway result over some experienced wheelz.

Sworks, I know the different levels of intensity of the racing in CAT compared to Seeded, hence why took part in CAT 2 lights by linea on Sat. As you said above its only way to improve.

I suppose its due to ignorance, but please explain to me the Cat1 - 4 groups? I haven't ridden in a PPA races for ages, so what are these groups about?

I could have fixed your saddle while riding no problem, you just needed to hand me a 5mm allen key or multitool!

Or next time bring your bike to a workshop where you know crap like that wont happen! ;)

Good seeing you too man!

I was one of the B/C riders in the D bunch. I rode there with my mates for fun as they had a E seeding. There were not that many B/C's in the group maybe 5 and they did not do a lot of work on the front. So the theory the group was pulled round by higher seeded riders falls a bit flat.

Next week we are starting in F-G with some more mates cause PPA do not use the DC for seeding, so have no rides to use for seeding. These rides are for the vibe :)

Just messing with one of my riding buddies that started later to ride with one of our other training buddies in E. He had a great result, therefore my chirp.
