Yip saw him pull that move in Dullstroom again.......too many beers, too many pies, not enough training, chest cold, head cold and the list goes on.

4 hours later.........marathon done and drinking beers again while waiting for rest of us

That's cause I thought you guys were hot on my tail. Nearly died staying ahead. At least I got to the beers first.... Still got some pies but not as much as Dullies.... These are the longest lasting Christmas pies ever. 40yrs plus ain't for sissies

Yep....that is classic swift01...

If there is one thing he enjoys more than a beer it is a hill....the steeper and longer the better. He doesn't have the crown jewel of strava segments for nothing.

That was in my non Christmas pie days..... Well I call them Christmas pies but the GF has been angling towards it is the beer drinking that's causing the belly to swell  never blame the beer

Looks like I'll have to get a number to join the roadie train. The flying V formation would be appreciated up front chaps.

Nerves are kicking in for the undulating second half, based on the route profile.

only two climbs gen....the first one is a loose rocky motherbeeeeatch, not as long as the monster, but I reckon tougher....if you know the babyheads after the concrete slabs at van gaalens...its like this, just a little longer. It starts at about 16km in. DONT BURN YOUR MATCHES HERE...You want to still feel fresh after the first portage, if you are, you are going to have a good day, if you are not...well start throwing grenades back

Then there is the monster...not as rocky and if you get a nice rythm going, its not that bad at all. Starts at about 26km in....

Then there is sand here and there...I suspect lots this year, try and maintain a high cadence through it...and if possible, go for the rougher edges, although rockier, will give you more purchase.

Danke.. I am okay with rocky ascents as I always just try and spin up and conserve energy.. now sand aint my friend.. by that I also just spin and let the bike find it way through.. else I ride on the edge.

I see they make a big deal of the descent after the monster. . And I see its rough terrain.. like what I am used to.. I dont have many manicured routes that I ride.. it's normally a case of finding a line through while we boendoe bash. At least that descent is wide so I wont hold anyone up or visa versa.

Nah its not tech at all...its a district road down to the shebeen...I think they just make deal of it because people go 60-70km/h down there...it is very possible considering its a district road and its steep, so if you going to come off at that speed, you going to have a kuk taste in your mouth guaranteed. The sand starts normally after the shebeen...but like you said, just don't go into the deep stuff, and stay on the edges for purchase...cadence high.
