Just out of interest why do you buy carbon bottle cages?

Surely not for weight savings?

Not knocking anyone who buys them by the way, just interested in why.

They last. They dont break (not suppose to), and they don't damage your bottles

Thought it would look nice on a Carbon frame.

But I found Carbon lookalike PLASTIC cages that are strong enough @ R85 each. So I will transfer the 2 Carbon cages (1 less the bottle clip) to Jnr's bike.

Sorry Dr. Seuss.....Broke 2 of those TACX Alu ones......

I have the Spesialized ones.....VERY NICE!!!

I hate anything that is carbon "look-a-like". It just screams "you want carbon but you can't afford it". I think I'll rethink the plain black Specialized "Rib Cages" seeing that everybosy is so happy with them.

The Trek "Bat cages" also look pretty good and at about thalf the price of the Specialized. I'm sorry but there is no way I put a Trek product on my bike, not even Bontrager.

Yeah boys take the Specialized Rib cages, I have 3 of them all in Matte Black, not that fake Carbon. Those things really grip the bottles nicely! Haven't lost a bottle on a downhill since I put them on. Cool thing is you can jump on them and they don't break (this happened by accident).

The guy in the shop actually twisted it into oblivioun and it just jumped back into shape.

Now the critical Q. If they are so tough and good, what will be the reason to replace them if something "better" comes along?
