Worst Cycling Purchase

Not sure what you are on about.

Are you insinuating that I sell USN ?

No way. I'm just confused.

I read it as: someone posted on a thread about their worst cycling purchase that some or the other product was not for them. Then the next thing some bloke is saying how you need to be careful what you say, cause some member here sells said product.

What made me comment, is that other brand names are mentioned as not good, why is USN the sacred cow, so to speak?

Coolbit.... %$^@#@$%#^&*%&%#$%# !!!! :cursing:

(Please note that this is my personal view and is not intended to reflect poor on the product, I suppose that a lot of individuals will love this item; unluckily I am not one of those).

I'm one of those that like them.

Not under a Helmit though, use it when I swim so my dome doesn't get burned.

A pair of XTR wheels from the classifieds on the hub. Corroded valve seats, worn hubs.

Never again.

XTR pedals!!

Was the control version, not the s works.

Not nice... I just got a set of Specialized Ground Control (Control version) tires and so far I'm very impressed (done only 15km in total).

On the note of tires... My most recent bad purchase was rubber rim strips suggested by some cycling shop for going tubes. Could not get the tire on the rim and ended up taking the wheel to another cycling shop who quickly installed the high pressure tape and completed the tubeless conversion in 30 minutes. Some money lost, but I can write it off as school fees.

I also bought pocpac, thought it was nifty, but still think a zip-lock bag does a better job at keeping water out of the cellphone when you accidentally take a plunge (thinking of the water bridge at Van Gaalens)

those silly "cinnelli" tribars. Too short for any good and always in the way anyway. That and those ear shields, tons of different energy fuels and heart rate monitors.

odd, 2 and a half years and my Elixer 9CR are still working great. not even bled once. touch wood.

my first mtb bought in 2010 as elixir 5s. never had a problem, never been bled and amazing stopping power. xtr brakes however... i am not on my 3rd, yes, 3rd! warranty. bought them for my top fuel last year, back one went and was warrantied. epic came with them, back one went and was warrantied for the newest xtr with carbon levers. back has gone again so now waiting on my 3rd warranty. i would never buy xtr brakes ever ever ever!

This particular seat post mount.

Used to mount extra bottle cage on the seat post of my dualie... First one broke straight off after few rides. Got a replacement from bikeshop... Second one did exactly same thing. Maybe it will work for road bikes on the smooth stuff wouldn't recommend it for MTB.

I wasn't going to give up so easily.... a few hours work on the lathe!

Did a similar thing. But used a piece of aluminium bent in the right shape and some epoxy. Was still too low on post cos of seat post dropper so i lost my Gorilla bottle cage at the USN at Redbarn a while ago.... :cursing:

Will try find a triathlon assembly for the saddle next as that Tacx mentioned above is useless as well.

Polar CS300 with heart rate strap. I don't think I managed to get the thing to work through an entire ride without it failing. In the year I tried, it was fixed, replaced, serviced about 4 times, HR strap replaced etc... dreadful.

+1, what a POS! I will never buy another Polar.

Don't waste your time - the reason we bought that one, was because the Profile Design Tri one which attaches to the seat also broke......

Hmmmm Do it yourself fibreglass project coming on...... I might have access to some raw materials to make a bum ugly contraption. Dualies really suck on this concept for the second bidon.

Apparently. And you can't say you had a bad experience or don't like any of them now, because, apparently, another hub member sells one of the brands. I don't get it.

You can say you think xyz brand of tyre is crap, because no-one here sells them however. Or if they do, they just aren't that touchy?

well... I'm gonna piss a lot of people off now, i dont like USN, swear by Isostar (tastes amaxing and works, their gu doesnt taste like gu as well)

I quite frankly like my ELIXIR brakes never had problems, except for them braking too well?!! :whistling: (do prefer shimano though)

those olympic/probike R600 shoes are k@k

and i am on my 2nd pair of sugaro GEAX tyres and they awesome!
