is the cut off times calculated from when you start or from when the first batch leave?

CUT OFF

The cut off is at the Kom se Pad / Knysna turn off at 14:00 and the Knysna High School at 15:30due to the half an hour delay of the start to 08:00. There will be seven start groups with approximately five minute intervals in between each group.

:whistling:

I think it is the same for everybody, which is why the bunch of us in the back are at a bit of a disadvantage in my opinion.

Sit in the same situation, will have to see how it pans out on the day.

On the mail they sent last Thursday the cut off at Kom se pad is 14h30.

At my rough calcs it means you have about 6 hours to do roughly 65km which means you must average 11km/h. tbh ignoring mechanicals, if you are not fit enough to manage that they are probably doing you a favour to stop your race there... :whistling:

But apparently you are allowed to continue without your number but there are no support for the last 30km and you obviously won't get an official result.

1st timer in group D .Just watched the video of the wapad section ,with 4500 riders on it , looks like it is going to be heavy traffic.Where does it start to thin out?

hmmm - this is going to be a toughy, I haven't been able to train extremely hard, got an A batch start, but on last years results, def not this years.. I am going to have to ride smart to do a decent time I think.. just put on XX1 and I have a 30t front chainring, which is not cool for flat races, but for these long climbs it will be great.. I will also have to free as much as possible and get forced rests on the downhills, run out of gears at about 40km\hr - going to be interesting, hopefully the gear ratios will save my legs...

You are going to have some serious rest periods, there are long sections of downhill where you will average well over 40kph, there are even a few meters of flat in the 100km where in excess of 40kph is possible. Maybe 100m in total. The rest is uphill.

Perfect, my gear ratios should work well then, did this race 10 years ago, can't remember the course at all..
