Hey all! I just saw that the entries for K2C is closed. So disappointed as I only entered late July last year.

If anyone has 2 or more entries that they want to get rid of, please PM me?

Thanks!!

Hey guys!

This year will be my first k2c- very excited!

However, I didn't plan in time where accommodation is concerned and now I need to weigh up my options. Either drive from Knysna in the morning to make use of the tents at the school in Uniondale. I have read a couple of stories of people having bad nights- cold, noisy etc in the tents. Could anyone give me feedback on their experience? Also, if someone has stayed in the stables I'm looking for info on how it compares. (Price wise also- as the tents are pretty steep at 250pp)

Thanks in advance!

You might be able to get a K2C entry if you enter Dr Evil first. Dr Evil riders get a reduce entry fee and automatic seeding behind the elites in K2C.

I love how the Dr Evil is promoted...

"Dr Evil an Ideal warm-up for Pennypinchers Lions Karoo to Coast"

since when is a 3-day stage race merely a warm-up for a 100km race?

This will also be my first K2C but I belong to PennyPinchers so me and my colleges get automatic entry and Cycling kit for the race.

I'm excited to be in a big group of us, and there is some nice internal competition. Il post a picture of the Awesome Kit we will be getting.

in 2012 we pitched a tent at the registration venue free of charge i.e. not the camping site which is right next door. It was so cold it was impossible to sleep hence everyone just stayed awake & chatted or laughed at how hilariously cold it was that we couldn't even sleep.

Don't even try to imagine it cause it's nothing like you ever felt before...ever!!....ever!!

I saw some clever people come out of the open & actually pitched their tents within the stables, the stench was horrendous but I would've also done it even for just for 20mins of sleep. If there is really no accommodation in Uniondale then sleep in knysna & drive through the morning or shuttle it if there is any available. I'm in this predicament as well but sleeping in knysna is the most likely option at this stage.

Right, I've done all us 'new guys' to the Karoo 2 Coast a big favor. I've plotted every climb and downhill, with their distances and elevation change.

I've done them in order and I obviously didn't plot the flatter sections. Hope this helps with the preparations.

Section 1

1 Climb: 4.6km 306m climbing

2 Downhill: 2.6km 205 descending

3 Climb: 4.6km 169m climbing

4 Downhill: 14.2km 751m descending

5 Climb: 6.1km 288m climbing
